Anyone ever used a SmartBoard before?

Post by tnf »

I just ordered one of these for my class next year. Had a lot of extra money to spend, so I'm not sure what this will offer that a tablet laptop and projector combo don't, but it looks like it might be useful.

If you've used one, let me know what you think about it...

You can save everything you write up there - which will make it very useful for kids who have a difficult time writing (many kids have motor skill deficiencies, etc.). Its better than a tablet PC/projector combo only because I can face the class while using it. Plus I can game on my laptop, then pause the action, and draw on the screen to highlight my superior strategies and skills...

Thats pretty slick..
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

We had a Smart Board in my physics class last year. We used powerpoints projected onto the board (very handy). I've written on it a few times and it's fairly similar to a normal whiteboard. I did notice that when I wrote there was a 1/4 second or so delay from when I physically wrote and when it showed up on the board.

We never got to use the "save everything that's written" feature but everything else is really nice.

You'll like it

My school used to have one (~5 years ago), pretty fun. The teacher went out the room and somone put some a music video on it, sounded quite good. (as it had speakers etc). But yea: the actual thing was a pretty good idea, saved lots of time for everyone too.

Yeah, my school has about 10 fixed room set ups, and two portable ones. (as portable as a 54 intch screen & projector on a cart can be that is.)

They're quite nice.

Driving the computer from the board is nifty :icon14:

The Science classes use them quite a lot, but in your case tnf, it seems to just be adding another piece of tech; A tablet and projector do the same as a PC, smartboard, and projector, and possibly with less money spent.

I mentioned the benefit I see as opposed to the tablet PC. I can handle everything at the smartboard as opposed to having to look down at the laptop. It will be 'seamless'

If some of you can work on this and I know that many of you can do it.
This is something I had in mind while still a teenager…You all know how old I am.
The thing is that I wanted it to be copied into my book.
At the time, PC didn’t even existed.
I wanted something that our teacher would write on the black board and it could
be duplicated in our scholar book.
Need any more details for it…I’ll be glad to collaborate with it.

May be if you have a certain link to it.

In the meantime, I don't know if it alreaday exist...
While I was a student...The teacher. any teacher that is, wrote on a blackboard and we had to rewrite everything that was on it or just to remembered what she/he has written.
I remember wanting something that could duplicate the blackboard
to our papers instead of having to rewrite it all.

Is this time clear enough.
Sorry about my english.
I will explain it again if needed.

Then you wouldn't learn if eveything was done for you.
The reason why you right it down yourself is to remember it better.

With the smartboard, everything written on it can be saved and printed/copied.

But the re-writing is just a small part of the learning process. you shouldn't just copy down the exact words on the board - you should be taking notes that you need...

I had a teacher that would hand out photocopied stuff.
All I did was put it in my binder and close it.

Thank's man
That is a clever answer.
Some are visual others the other types though.
Take care.
