I really need to go to bed, but I have this horrible headache that's keeping me up. "indy"media is just as bad as Fox, but from the opposite direction. They never miss an opportunity to present the ant-government point of view. Sure they report the news the big news stations won't touch, but they look like a bunch of biased whiney amatures doing it. While Fox is obviously conservative yet claims to be 'fair and balanced', Indymedia sites hide behind the fact that they allow anyone to post anything they want. On one end we get the view of the aristocracy, on the other end we get The Peoples' Angsty Teen News. Those of us in the middle have to put up with both.

Here's a comment from the article that video is associated with:

NO MOM AND POP BUSINESSES GOT HURT JUST THE BIG BUSINESSES.

http://www.indybay.org/news/2005/07/175 ... hp#1751974

Here's a great example of quality Indymedia "journalism":

Is this unbiased news reporting or agenda pushing? Indymedia has no accountability for what they post.

is that why their servers get seized every now and again?

That's irrelevant in the context of their poor quality journalism.

But if their servers are getting seized, someone else must agree with me, albeit not for the same reasons

oh and on topic.

yeah the so called anarchists who attend g8 protests, peace protests (hypocrisy anyone?) etc. can be pretty idiotic. I didn't really see anyone do anything wrong in that video though, just a guy being sat on.

I'm not big on violence. That's why war and cluster bombs and that sort of thing bother me.

I thought you were an anarchist....which is an easy thing to be as long as you've got men with guns to make sure your national sovereignty is preserved :dork:

Hmmm

Just because the system is fucked up (and for the most part fake) that doesn't mean the idea of the system is wrong.

It's impossible for us to revert to a gatherer society.

I've said it before, but if you work for a large government institution for long enough, you'll be amazed that ANYTHING ever works.

All I saw in that video was a bunch of very frightened people, the cop was obviously terrified, holding onto that poor protestors throat for dear life.

like what Abby hoffman said:

" You call a man a pig and he'll act like one."

Both sides taking the wrong approach to a fucked situation.

i don't get it, it's just a bunch of pansies yelling at some pigs while they're trying to nick someone. where's the problem? there's plenty of footage of the police being genuine cunts, why couldn't these people stick their logo at the end of a clip like that?

the only times i've ever really been up for violent protest were the criminal justice bill demos and the regulation of investigatory powers bill - and the met were blatantly up for it as well. both of those were shitty bills that genuinely sought to limit the liberty of british people (and for the most part they both passed :( ).

the thing that really pissed me off with the last rip bill demo was that all these bloody socialists and anti-capitalists turned up and started yelling about their own agenda. would've been good if they left their banners at home, the news reported it as an anti-capitalist demo (something no-one who owns a television and eats ready meals can realistically give a fuck about) and the real purpose was lost.

if you want to protest against capitalism then pick a company and start harrassing them, write them letters, email them, visit them, publish negative information about them, whatever. do stuff that actually requires real effort and dedication, instead of having a day out in the city smashing up peoples cars, pissing folks off and losing legitimate protesters the right to gather and shout shit.

Wow, that was really fucking stupid. A bunch of filthy hippies yelling at a cop trying to arrest someone that clearly didn't want to be arrested.
And why the fuck did that one greasy hippie call that cop "fajita boy"?

Colin Blakemore was one of my anatomy professors. Apparently, one time after he finished a lecture and was heading out to his car, this woman grabbed him from behind and started slamming his head in the car door.

Smart guy, too. What a waste of braincells...

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm not exactly in favour of mobs targetting individuals either.
