btw here's a little experiment we can all do on this msgboard.
One of the things that is invariably lost due to circumcision are the erotogenic stretch receptors on the ridged band of the foreskin.
Males with intact penises can elicit sexual feelings by pulling down their foreskin, and stretching it. Some can even induce orgasm this way simply by stretching the foreskin down.
This is due to the receptors' responsiveness to physical deformation.
Males who are circumcised do not experience this.
Would be nice if intact males who are posting in this thread could confirm this.

Shouldn't circumsision be used as a medical treatment for people who suffer from this problem instead of on every baby who have no free will yet? That goes for pretty much every medical reason IMO.[xeno]Julios wrote:There are some valid medical indications for male circumcision. The most common one is phimosis.
However, from what I recall, phimosis is a term used for a broad range of different phenomena regarding the foreskin's retractivity. Basically there may be many reasons that a foreskin experiences difficulty retracting, and to various degrees; yet phimosis is the term usually used for all of them.
have you read the rest of my posts in this thread? - I'm very much against any form of genital mutilation, be it male of female

This is from my post in the metafilter thread. This is reflected in the training that doctors undergo for circumcision, as well as a dearth of preputial education in medical textbooks, as well as a lack of histological and sexological research on the prepuce.
It would be interesting to confirm my claim by polling people in this thread who have studied medicine:
What did you learn about the male foreskin - were its sexual functions elucidated in your texts/lectures?

I'm not, but we both wanted to find out all the facts before deciding one way or another since it is such a common procedure. Once I found out about the ridge of nerves in the foreskin not proceeding with it was a foregone conclusion. I don't know about the rest of you but I'd have been pissed if my folks made that kind of decision for me.[xeno]Julios wrote:
i'm curious - are you yourself circumcised? If so, then that is a remarkable decision you and your wife made.
The prime predictor of whether a baby male will be circumcised is the circumcision status of the father.

Hell, (somewhere) in Africa they circumcise their teenagers with a rusty spear..... and you're lucky if you get to use the spear first in the batch
Apparently the death rate from sepsis and unremitting penile bleading is pretty significant.

Scores of adolescent males die each year in South Africa during their initiation rites (circumcision)Geebs wrote:Hell, (somewhere) in Africa they circumcise their teenagers with a rusty spear..... and you're lucky if you get to use the spear first in the batch
