I picked these up last night:

Don Quixote
Through the Looking Glass - and other L. Carroll stories
SAS Survival Guide (not exactly a novel though)
Crime and Punishment
The Brothers Karamazov

I'm dying to read Don Quixote first though, I've always wanted to. If several people here wanted to read and discuss Dostoevsky, then I could maybe be persuaded to read it first.

Basically, it's Dan Brown warming up for the Da Vinci Code. Having the same main character, another great historical European city (Rome), lots of cryptology and codes, large religious undertones, impossible escape scenes, lots of chases and deadlines.

Yeah, it's the pre-Da Vinci book. Amusing and a page-turner at times.

That sums it up nice

I like the way that Vittoria gets mentioned in The Da Vinci Code

well I'm just about to start the Brothers Karamazov, as is tnf (i think). What do you guys think then, want to make that our first book together?
