No apology needed. We have Kracus. Consider it even.

07/01/05 "ICH" - - I was in the drug store today out here in Podunk. Some old guy in front of me was picking up his little paper bag of prescription medicine. The lady behind the counter handed him a credit card slip and said, "I'm sorry."

She was sorry because the bill was over $1,200. The old man stared at the charge card receipt and stared at it some more. Hesitating, he signed, then said, "I hope I die before I have to pay for the next re-fill."

He wasn't joking. The lady behind the counter said, "Oh, don't ever say that." And she said it in such a way that it was clear she'd heard the same thought before, in different words, from too many of the old folk that come by.

The polls tell us that Americans are in an ugly mood: too many jobs leaving for China, too many body bags returning from Iraq, and a bad feeling about a President grabbing for grandma's social security check.

America is hurting. But what really hurts is that the wounds are self-inflicted.
The guy that wrote that is obviously a liberal, obviously hates America and is certainly not patriotic.

What kind of commie sicko gets worked up about someone on a fixed income having to pay $1200 for six pills when Osama is still out there? Sure...were spending shitloads of cash into the moneypit known as Iraq and Haliburton...but even if hundreds of Iraqis and old people that can't afford their prescriptions die it'll be all worth it to defeat Saddam and the evil doers.

It doesn't matter that right now the conservative party is actually doing the exact opposite of what it originally stood for...the Patriot Act rocks and is a great idea.

It doesn't matter that a bunch of old people will die off cause they couldn't afford their pills. They weren't working and are a drain on society anyway....even if they helped build the country up to what it is now. Do they think we owe them something? Do they think they deserve a handout like those fucking streetbums I never give change to? If those old fogeys don't like being screwed over for pills they can move somewhere else. America doesn't need them anyways.

I say we cull the flock of people that are old and liberal. We need to trim the fat if America is going to stay in shape for the next "1000 Years War" (aka War on Terruh).

God bless America and christians.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is un-American.

GKY could write for Rush Libaugh :icon19:

What I find amazing about this whole drug export whathaveyou is that the whole thing is being played on both sides by the same drug companies. American companies, fucking American citizens.

Not all that long ago even big business cared about its own country at least. Now these immortal megabucks corporations hold no alligience to anything except the dollar bill - whichever flavor of it is worth more this month.

You know why drugs cost so much? Advertising. These companies pump SO MUCH MONEY into advertising their products that they can't afford actual R&D without jacking up the prices in every country where the majority of the population can afford it, and keeping prices sane where they can't or won't pay it.

There's so much wrong with this picture it's hard to even articulate it...

We're the only ones losing here.

I actually talked to one of the head people in our economics dept. at my school about this kind of stuff. He said that overtime if we continue to import drugs from Canada, the drug prices in Canada would go up. Which means....we arent the only ones losing, Canadians would lose as well.
R00k wrote: Now, since those drug companies supply Canada with nearly all its advanced medicines, all the companies have to do is put pressure on the Canadian government (yes, it happens over there too, not just in the US government) to do something about it - or else Canada will face a price increase in their drugs.

If you think the drug companies would not do that, or that Canada's government would stand up to them and eat higher costs just on principle, then I think that's just willfully ignoring the situation.

You learn quickly.

Yea Chup, but the part you are missing in my argument is that Canada's prices never go up, because the government can just prevent it with legislation.

Theories and speculations on market forces are just a house of cards when powerful multinational conglomerates and government policy are involved.

When they find out they're losing, they just talk to the referees and get the rules changed to their advantage.
