Canada's health minister Wednesday announced he's looking into legislation that would ban the bulk export of prescription drugs to the United States and other countries.

You're retarded, the only reason they would have something like this on CNN is because they want canada to ban it so their own drug companys can make more money, which isn't neccessarily a bad idea from a US perspective but from a Canadian perspective selling to americans is a good deal. Whether you're helping an American or a Canadian we're all human and Canada is all about human rights. Why deny americans drugs they need because their own country charges too much for it? GKY has the right idea here by looking at the long term.
I actually talked to one of the head people in our economics dept. at my school about this kind of stuff. He said that overtime if we continue to import drugs from Canada, the drug prices in Canada would go up. Which means....we arent the only ones losing, Canadians would lose as well.

Canada is being presured by the U.S. government, who in turn is being presured by the lobbyists for the American pharmaceutical companies to stop the sale of drugs from Canada.

I dunno, I think perhaps gky might have a point to some extent. It's not like all drugs are in iminent danger of extinction like he's saying. Some drugs might require ingredients that are rare but for the most part drugs are simply produced using common chemicals and refined to whatever you would want.
Now I'm talking from my own experience making one type of drug that used to be sold in a pharmacy but no longer. I'm assuming other drugs would be similar.
