Hey, isn't 'tremulous' one of those words Lewis Carroll made up?

I don't know, maybe. The game has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland anyway. If you ever played Gloom for Q2 or Natural Selection for HL, Trem is along the same lines.

If you want to play soon there is a game scheduled for Saturday 25th at 21:00 UTC which is 22:00 BST, 17:00 EDT, 14:00 PDT.
We have a mailing list to organise games, hop on it if you're interested. It's the sort of game that requires a minimum of around six players for a decent game. As such we end up needing to proactively organise games, so you only see people on the server at specific times. As you point out, most of the time the server is empty.

Ok I will sign up for it. I've been known to play several *obscure* q3 mods here and there. I just hope I know how to play this... does it support bots? I haven't tried making a local server yet, but can I add bots to it? To try it out.

Use the .bat file. It has commandline parameters that are mandatory. cl_allowDownload 1 is the one causing your current problem.

Weird shit, the helmet really adds that fear of where and the wallwalking is plain disorienting.
