if you have the PC to support it, you might as well get it on PC. Otherwise, apart from the occasional graphical glitches and annoying driveby controls (although i have yet to require doing a driveby -- usually passengers will hang out the windows and shoot by themselves), it's very sturdy and i enjoy it
i prefer to play such games relaxing on a couch
just read some reviews, none of which mention these flickers. they mention some popups like the ps2 version has (though not as many) but thats about it.

as long as it doesnt kill the game its fine by me
it by far does not kill the game -- you probably won't notice most of the problems on a legit copy of the game (the access speed seems to be faster on legit copies?), or have the game copied to your harddrive.

oh, and you cant look directly backward while you're driving, but you can while you're walking -- bug, or stupid design decision?
In case you didn't know this yet: press the black and the white button at the same time to look back while driving. After that you don't want to anymore.

wouldn't i have to be double-jointed to execute a manouver like that ?
The PC Version now has a mod that extends the view distance 10 fold and the performance difference on most machines with that is almost negligible, although people and cars popping in are still a problem. I really wish Rockstar would've implemented some of this stuff on their own though...
