so i'm told Marijuana is a great thing.
2 weeks ago i come back from work and one of the Inuit guys comes up to me having a heart attack .. tells me he has a heart condition .. he faints a few times so i call in a Medivac which is 2 1/2 hours away ..I was near Greenland .
the flight cost the company $7000 .
turns out he overdid it on the Weed and smoked all his weed. he tried to work stoned and his system didn't like it.
the woman i live with is stoned 50% of the time ..she doesn't make any sense when she speaks ..she will say something like if you go to the store grab some RYE bread ..next day i bring back RYE bread and she screams I HATE RYE BREAD YOU KNOW THAT.

I've always noticed that, in spite of the fervent claims of "not being addicted" to weed, the stoners I've know sure couldn't go for long periods of time without their pre-occupation with getting high becoming apparent.
It's definitely a crutch for a lot of the people that use it, which is why I do find its persistent glorification odd. Notice I said persistent there...I'm kind of a 'everything in moderation' type of person, but I don't see much moderation advocated those people who are getting ripped everyday (or people who go out of their way to let everyone know 'I WAS AT WORK AND HIGH...I WAS AT THE GYM AND HIGH...GODDAMN I AM THE FUCKING MAN DOING SHIT HIGH..)
I guess I wouldn't have any negative opinions at all if it was something that people were only doing on Friday and Saturday nights when they were unwinding with friends...but when you aren't able to (or unwilling to) face the world without being stoned, there are problems.
So, I guess what I am getting at is this - I have no problem whatsoever with people using weed in a responsible manner, just like I have no problem with people using alcohol in a responsible manner. And even though this isn't a medical thread, I think there is some sound research being done that speaks to the efficacy of cannabinoids for a variety of conditions (see the post I made a few weeks back about the distribution of the CB receptor, endogenous cannabinoids, etc.) However, I still believe there are a lot of marijuana addicts out there (psychological addicts) who are in complete denial of their situation. If someone were posting "man I'm going to drink a bottle of vodka and head to work" or "I am going to drink a bottle of Jaeger and vaccuum while my kids watch Barney" we'd be calling them an alcoholic loser. But subsitute weed for alcohol, and it seems to be a whole different ball game here. I find that ironic, because the potheads I know will try and group weed with alcohol when it is convenient, but will try and distance weed from alcohol when its not (i.e. justifying going to work stoned, but saying that this is inherently different than going to work drunk).
Still of the opinion that we should make it completely legal though, and just use it as tax revenue.

I smoke about once or twice a month, and only when i'm with friends who offer me a joint or a bowl or a bong or whatever they're smoking out of at the time. I don't require weed at all, i never get the urge to get high unless i'm watching one of my buddies roll a joint. Smoking has never affected my life or gotten me in trouble, i'm an A student at a good university, and i am not at all worried about cancer or breathing problems or any of that shit at the rate i'm smoking.
It's just a way to change your mindset for a bit, or kick up the drunkenness a notch.

Well I dissagree. I know many people in and around town because of it. I've made money because of it. I enjoy it and enjoy doing things on it like playing videogames, it makes it so much more fun.
