Glitches in GTA:SA for Xbox
Glitches in GTA:SA for Xbox
Anyone playing this on Xbox now? I've noticed that the graphics are pretty buggy in widescreen 480p. The sky flickers at night, the daytime looks 'blurry' at best...not that the game had graphics for shit to begin with...but this is pretty bad.
Still fun though.
BTW - sorry if this is covered somewhere in the other thread.

totally agreed on both points.phoq wrote:Same here and I also noticed the game has a hard time of keeping up with you when it comes to loading textures and models. I crashed into a road block several times now because it hadn't been loaded yet.
Plus the controls for doing a drive-by are horrible.
i've noticed the sky flickering, although it's maybe not as you mentioned it -- but when the day is cycling (sunrise, sunset, and a few other times) they sky will update at ~1fps, and it looks dodgy (especially during cutscenes)
oh, and you cant look directly backward while you're driving, but you can while you're walking -- bug, or stupid design decision?
i still have to say, though, i'm happy with the game as a whole still. feels like they pulled in a few more gta2-esque elements and i like the way it goes... still kinda feels like they're holding back, so they can release games with more features later, or something.
Don't call me an idiot just because I have opinion on M$. I don't like M$, I don't like Bill Gates, I happen to think the guy has stolen every technology for his personal gain.glossy wrote:you're an idiot.Denz wrote:It's Microsoft right? Of course there's going to be bugs, it can't be helped.
If you didn't like eggs, I wouldn't call you an idiot.
You're a prick for stating this.
yea but see, this is not made by microsoft. wouldnt call you an idiot but those bugs could just as easily be there on the ps2 version, for instance.Denz wrote:Don't call me an idiot just because I have opinion on M$. MS has nothing to do with this

misguided joke :P... personally, i find games produced in part by microsoft [game studios] have been of a much higher caliber than others -- Halo or Fable vs GTA:SA, the former is a clear winner. the only game i own that stands over Halo and Fable in my collection is Burnout 3.Denz wrote:Well first of all I was making a Joke, I guess no one remembers when Windows would crash every 5 seconds.
Oh well, It was really supposed to be funny, I guess it wasn't.

the loading issues are due to the reading of the DVD, Considering how slow the access time and shit is as well as the transfer rate, its no wonder it takes a little to get them showin up..
persionally, i play it off of the HDD, and i havent noticed any load time glitches, or rendering issues.
the controls how ever, i do agree with.

because then people buy it for PC instead of Xbox. The console market is very compeditive, and giving consumers the option is giving them the option to let xbox lose it's share of the market.Psyche911 wrote:Yeah, their games (for the XBox, at least) are top-notch. I keep wondering why more don't come to PC though. They use some form of Direct X in the XBox 1, right? So, why no Halo 2, Fable, RalliSport Challenge, Amped, etc for PC?
just imagine -- if all the PS2 games came out for PC, and you were shopping around for a console to compliment your PC, you'd go for an Xbox (or, heaven forbid, a gamecube). This means less PS2 sales, Sony lose it's share in the console market, and then lose a lot of money.
Yea, this game is so graphically buggy I am wishing I was playing the PS2 version. I realized the PC version would obviously be the best of the 3, but was really hoping the Xbox would be much, much better than it is. The flickering sky, the 'wavy' distortion during the day (at times it appears they were trying to simulate the heat of the day by making the screen undulate slightly), and the rain effects - when it rained, instead of looking rainy, it looked like I was watching an old, old 8mm home movie....
And the drive by controls (mentioned earlier)...not very logical at all - some thumb acrobatics to get the fire button and the drive by button down at the same time.

i do agree that the heat effect is absolutely shithouse, they should really have put more work into it; but the rain effect i do like just a little more -- it much more accurately simulates what it's like in the streets on a really rainy day with the kicked-up water creating a fog, the falling rain messing with your vision etc.. it is a great deal more difficult to see, though.
Pretty much all console hardware ever has traditionally been sold at a loss.glossy wrote:well you do have a good point, they do make thier money off the software (i believe at the price they've pegged for the Xbox360, they are actually losing money for the hardware) -- but the money is to be made in software. that said, more money is to be made if more people have an xbox
if you have the PC to support it, you might as well get it on PC. Otherwise, apart from the occasional graphical glitches and annoying driveby controls (although i have yet to require doing a driveby -- usually passengers will hang out the windows and shoot by themselves), it's very sturdy and i enjoy itMKJ wrote:for some reason im reluctant to get this game on xbox now. how annoying is that
