Think about a state of mind that doesnt require foriegn stimulus to exist in a creative state. Our minds have so much power and we are so enslaved by the things we have tricked ourselves into thinking we need or just simply misunderstood it simply baffles me.
Tell you what, the next time you want to get stoned, dont, wait a few days. After a few days i want you to sit in a quiet place, probably out in nature would be best, on grass, birds chirping and stuff and i want you for 10 minutes to just deeply breathe steadily. I want you to remember what its like to be high. Dont be stoned mind you, im talking high, there is a difference. Invoke it and i just be it for as long as you want.
After you do that, realize that any emotial experience, pain, high, sorrow, with the right focus can be induced by you. Its part of you and you can call it into existance anytime you want with practice.
I was researching meditaiton for 2 years on my own when i found this out. One day i sat in my backyard, focused on the feeling of being high, held it for 10 min, breathing steadily and when i stopped i remained in that feeling for some time.
Shangri la/Heaven is not a place, its a state of mind, its a persepction that is seen through your eyes and your mind.
Then again maybe its just me /shrug

I went to the finals once, just to see the Alcoholics in concert. But it was awful, the place was riddled with goddamn 50 year old hippies reading poems about the cannabis plant. Just when i thought they'd finally go away they broke into a song about the merits of being stoned - then they got booed off stage by like three people (i was one of them). Since the rest of the audience didnt show any disappreciation for this insane and highly annoying bit of misperformance, i felt suddenly felt obligated to somehow change the situation.
Besides, the best coffeeshops don't even compete anymore.
