GUI/Kernel Skins

Post by Uaintseenme »

I've only seen a few of these before and they were pretty crappy. Anyone have any real great gui skins/different kernels for Windows? I'm talkin' transparent windows, totally replaced taskbar, completely sleek look and low priority when it comes to resources.

different kernels for windows...

Just to clear something up, the kernel is really the core of the operating system, the beating heart so to speak and has nothing to do with the visual representation on the screen. Just so you know :)

Oh...I thought you could replace that kernel with a different one? lol I dunno, I'm just talking about these skins that complete alter the whole windows interface.

Heh.. They're using Mambo to run their site and they seem to have removed the copyright notice for it. That's hardly legal :) You can't buy your way out of it with Mambo.

Ok. Didn't know that. Specially since they have a service for reporting sites without it =)

Ok I installed Geoshell, restarted and all I had access to was my desktop wallpaper i.e. absolutely nothing. Like it failed to load, so I had to restart in safemod and uninstall. wtf?

what happened when you right-clicked. did you see the regular desktop context menu or the geoshell menu?

no idea then sorry.

at a guess i'd say it was caused by something between the monitor and the wall behind you.

The only thing I could see was my desktop wallpaper, it's like neither of my shells felt like loading and left me with a big fat away message.

geoshell's worth persevering with if you can get it to work, otherwise check out http://www.shellcity.net for alternatives.
