As long as they keep a tight grip on their overseas plants, that is....I picked up a Fox wagon back in the mid 80's....passed a thorough check see....good reliability ratings for most of the model years...except for a small band of years when they were exclusivley manufactured (for US import) in Brazil....I learned all this after I bought the fucker and realized it was one of shit model years from Brazil. I'm much wiser about all this now of course. Don't know if VW still has a plant-quality variability problem, but I switched and stayed with Subaru (and Jeep) ever since.reefsurfer wrote: German's know how to build solid cars.
Still seems expensive to me, for a car thats done that many miles, and its a pre 1990. If you like it thoughreefsurfer wrote:I went for the Golf gti 16v... more horsepower and it looked decent in the interior... the paint though... thats a whole other story..![]()
It's powerful and fast as hell for a small car... 8 sec 0-60 mph, im happy.
And the price tag?... 1,063 US dollar, 870 Euro and 584 UK. :icon31:

no stock 1.8 golf in the world has 140nhp. where do you get these bullshit stats from??
It's 102 kW and thats 139 horsepower... so yea, your right, its not 140, its 139.
news flash spunky, the 8v was fast than the 16v fact. too many valves spoiled the broth so to speak, and you're buying a car that is just under 20 years old, and even if the 130 odd hp was present when it rolled off the production line, then it certainly isn't now.
fuck buying that, and go jap man.
