So? I'm not religious, but...what does that proove?
Really, I grew up in Europe (currently living in the USA), and I'm beginning to think people there just bitch and moan about the United States as a way to make themselves feel better about their own country.
Yeah, Americans are fat/fascists/religious fanatics/stupid/etc. blah blah blah, but I'm a frickin' potato head immigrant and I still make a fine living here and when it comes to the economy and in some ways certainly opportunity the USA > Europe.
Europe has too many socialists that are slowly but surely running their countries into the ground and preventing them from competing to their fullest extend in a capitalist world market. Europe still has a relatively strong Euro (or so I hear?) but things have been going down hill there for quite a while and are just going to get worse and worse.

You posted in a thread about religion and somehow turned it into a thread about lining your wallet?
lol

Geoff, you've been watching that dullard Lou Dobbs again.
I watched the segment discussing Europe's secularization. The guest was a theologian and he spoke about the sad state of that continent after religion collapsed, about depopulation of the native inhabitants and the supposed spiritual void. He claims that people from islamic countries will begin to replace the native population and bring their fundamentalist tendencies with them.

MQ, your nice reply made it onto Geoff's blog:

I think it would be great if geoff's blog was filled with intelligent commentary like yours. It would go with the whole 'r u a fagot' thing.

Or maybe it's just that Europeans recognise that having snappy national economic figures that national leaders can show off to their friends at G8 summits isn't the be-all and end-all. Economies exist to serve all the people, not the other way around, and they don't exist to serve a rich minority either.KingManULTRA wrote:So? I'm not religious, but...what does that proove?

As for so-called 'US style capitalism', it's a George Bernard Shaw once said: capitalism for the poor, socialism for the rich (i.e. market forces and the 'flexible labour market' for the poor; tax holidays, federal subsidy and lucrative federal contracts for the rich).
btw: America
