Nexuiz released

Post by booker »

After many years of development, Nexuiz has been released to the public! Nexuiz is a fast-paced, chaotic, and intense multiplayer first person shooter, focused on providing basic, old style deathmatch. The 1.0 release weighs in at 161MB, and includes 17 maps, 28 playable characters, and 10 music tracks. It is cross-platform, and supports Windows and Linux (x86 and x86_64), with Mac support coming soon (patch to be released in the next few days).

Looks pretty nice, I'll jump on it in a few hours and see what's like.

Felt very weird IMO. But it's open source, so I guess people can change whatever they like :)

Wow...that is very impressive. It has some serious performance issues but other than that its an amazing open source game. I like how that plasma gun can also fire plasma grendades.

Maybe a bit simplistic, but I like the physics. Maps seem balanced and well laid out. Undecisive about the weaponry (need to play with it a little more). There are still some bugs in the graphics department: the quad effect made my FPS drop from 80 to 18 :)

The movement is so weird. Might be able to turn dodging off though, didn't come further than c in console before I had to go :)

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Code: Select all

// QW-style physics
sv_friction 4
sv_accelerate 10
sv_maxspeed 320
sv_maxairspeed 30
g_balance_jumpheight 270
Precious little air control though...

It's a fun little game. But the servers I played on all lagged really bad, and my FPS sucked.

yeah, 2.77GHz p4 with 2gigs of ram and a 128mb card stutter ever once and a while. But the game could be great with a little work imo.

Played for about 30 minutes the other night and thought it was a nice little game!

it's promising but still needs a crapton more work. the network code somes to be complete ass and it's a pain in the butt to try and tweak the brightness/gamma/color so you can actually see shit in this game. the website also has no commands that can be used for tweaking to try and make things run smoother either.

thats another free opensource game, 'may' look less advanced, but I do like it more, and, everything is as solid as you'd want it, runs like a charm - and - ingame editing ;]

nexiuz, It looks a bit decieving to be honest, and, I'm not sure why they reckon it as releaseable, but I guess thats due to it not being critic-sensitive since its free.

Still, respect to all the people who're involved in that project.
