Money matters
Money matters
I've noticed I have some extra money at the end of each month that I'm not really using. I think I want to start saving some of it for a new car or something along the lines. I probally have an extra $150-250 CDN that I'm not using for anything. What is a low risk way to save the money, so I can use it in the next year or two.
Serious replies only pls.

My experience in the past from investors is that they like to push their own agenda. I would rather hear what people have had success with.Tormentius wrote:Talk to an investor.inphlict wrote:I've noticed I have some extra money at the end of each month that I'm not really using. If you're only going to be saving it for a year or two don't worry about investing - it takes a lot of research and experience to make money investing in that short a time period.
Open a savings account with a bank that has a fairly high interest rate, and won't let you withdraw the money easily with a check card or anything.

Exactly. Most banks have financial advisors who work for the bank are not on commission based or anything. They'll let you know which kinds of accounts will give you the greatest return in interest.R00k wrote:If you're only going to be saving it for a year or two don't worry about investing - it takes a lot of research and experience to make money investing in that short a time period.

In a jar, on the fridge.. when its full of cash money, empty into a pillowcase, throw in closet.. repeat..
if you have roommates, put jar somewhere else safe..
do not save change this way.. use a large water jug or something for that crap

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

yeah for something like this I would go for a savings acount that has an interest rate higher than current depreciation value.
ING has this new orange acount that has a fairly high interest rate in comparison, but I'm clueless if that applies to your location.
If you want to get really slick, you can search around for banks in foreign countries with better interest basis!
