Filemirrors.com and the US govt

Post by MKJ »

Sorry...
Pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we've been requested to remove copyrighted material that could be included in the results of your search.
We've been liberal with the filters so very likely some perfectly legal links have been blocked too. Instead of trying to block "GameX_Files", "GameX_Disk", and every other combination, we blocked "GameX" completely. Which unfortunately will also get the perfectly legal demos, patches, etc. And even some totally unrelated things (the game "Doom" vs "MyDoom" virus fixes!) But as copyright holders ourselves, we've erred on the side of caution and filtered more rather than less.

We wish we didn't have to do these filters, but under the current US laws, we must.

I'm working to see if I can do some better types of filtering, it is unfortunate that the MyDoom virus cleaners are getting caught by filters for the Doom game. Microsoft's MyDoom Cleaner Download Page.

filemirrors can still come in handy trying to find a link to a game demo or trailer

missing the point, no?
if the latest trailer is called Doom3_RoE.avi, it wont find it cause it has a full game name in there.
