Good game, Liverpool deserved to win after their 3 goals.
A few of the penalties Dudek came off his line though, but fairplay to him.

Im a Man U fan & i agree with DB.Doombrain wrote:You should hear all the man u fans banging on about how 99 was better. Lol, fuck right off. That game last night was a first for football.
What happened in 99 was fucking amazing, it was a last minute do or die thing.
Last nite however totally outdid that, it was the best football match I have ever saw bar none. I said at the start of the match that Milan would put 4 past them. At half time i was confident of this, possibly more. But when Stevie brought one back i knew that Liverpool would come back and what a hell of a way to do it.
Dudek's always had a slating, but hes the best Donkey in the world.
GG Scouse bastards!

Treble for Man U next season :icon27:
nah way, that game was a fanny fart compared to last nights matchDon Carlos wrote:2nd only to Man U vs B Munich in '99
dudek can be a prick but he can be good when it counts (shouldve seen all the shit i was screaming at him in the 1st half), his double save at the end of extra time OMG and then again in the shootout with all his fancy dancing

Great game. Glad Liverpool won. My opinions--
The good:
- Coming back from 0-3 is amazing.
- Milan's incisive offense in the first half was nice to see. Their timing in their passes and stuff was pretty cool stuff. Kaka was superb....in the first half.
- If you think about it, Liverpool never really got a chance to play with the score 0-0 until the 60' minute of the game. Its hard to set up and play your style of game when youre down by one goal so quickly and in such a big game. Yeah sometimes you have to take a goal in stride, but to get it in such a big game is a huge blow. After the 60' minute, when it was 3-3 they were playing very well.
- Maradona looks like he's in better health and working for ESPN Deportes alongside Mario Kempes. Looks like he's getting his stuff back together. I know a lot of you dont like him, but good for him.
- Carragher was a beast in the back. I think he's been their most important player in the past few rounds. Hyypia and Tourie (sp) have also been great.
The bad:
- Baros just whines and sucks or something. In Euro2004, he played quite well. Almost every game I see him play with Liverpool he has been terrible. I think the best thing he did last night in that game was move out of the way of Smicer's shot.In a game I saw against Everton, he missed two back to back 1v1s with the goalkeeper. Then he committed a vicious foul and got red carded. In general I think Luis Garcia is significantly better. Baros doesnt have that spectacular, fearless presence on the field like other potent strikers do. I hope Liverpool picks up a powerful striker.
- In my opinion, as great of a game this was, it wasnt the most spectacular game. Coming back from 0-3 is amazing any way you cut it, but the goals were not the result of some powerful offensive juggernaut on behalf of Liverpool. In other games where a team comes back from down one or two goals to win, its often the result of serious hard working super full blast offensive soccer with brilliant shots rebounding off the post or shit-loads of close calls. Take for example Czech Republic vs. the Netherlands in Euro2004. CR was playing so hard and were making brilliant motions. Yesterday's game was exciting because the score was so crazy, not necessarily because we were watching some wonderful soccer.
Because of this, its hard for me to say that this game was better than Man U vs. B Munich (for the record, B Munich played much better in that game than Man U). And as far as that goes, its hard for me to say that game was better than the Liverpool vs. Milan match. Both were wonderful games. In '99 the victory rose out of desperation. In the '05 game, the victory rose out of hopelessness.
- Kaka was missing the 2nd half.
- Dida has improved very, very much over the last few years. He dives EVERY single time to his right side on a penalty shot. Liverpool should have learned of this earlier. Granted, everything worked out for them in the end, but they should have caught that sooner--it would have eased things.
The ugly:
- As much as I wanted Liverpool to win, the victory let a subtle bitter taste because of the penalty shootout. Dudek came off the line practically EVERY time. I think its ridiculous. Yes, a small tiny hop off the before diving is understandable. But when you take steps off the line and severly cut down the angle, its really quite unfair. Its against the rules, why doesnt the linesman call it? I mean hell, thats his job, thats why he's standing on the line.
As far as I can think, 3 championship games were decided because of this.
1999
USA vs China (Women's World Cup). The US goalie was running at the kicker before the ball was kicked. Total bullshit--US won.
2003
Juventus vs AC Milan (Champions League final). Dida was running off his line (im glad he didnt this time though). Total bullshit--AC Milan won.
2005
AC Milan vs Liverpool....you guys know the rest.
Yes I wanted Liverpool to win, and overall Im happy, but it slightly tainted the victory for me because I think FIFA not noticing this problem is a huge travesty and its messing up the game (and championships at that!).
