I always thought it was a virus festering on the lip.

Listerine pwnz everything in the mouth region, so maybe that will do it.

Though the studies have been inconclusive so far, this amino acid may help

Lysene is basically a vitamine supliment, can be easily acquired at your local vitamine shop. A friend of mine gets "stress related" cold sores and lysene cuts the time considerably.

or you could buy the herpe eliminator

As far as I know, there's not too much you can do once you have a viral outbreak. There are prescription medications, but they really only are useful if applied just as a breakout occurs. Otherwise you just have to sit it out. Don't touch it, either; herpes spreads like wildfire.

Brush more than usual, floss more than usual, to keep the bacteria down. It helps a lot. I don't recommend a mouthwash as much because it dries out my mouth and actually helps bacteria to grow back faster.

The only thing I got out of college was a continuous outbreak of cold sources at the corners of my mouth. It took over a year before they started to die down. Awful.
yea i've too been kind of thinking about maybe a new sig but sort of haven't come to quite a decision yet

cold sores mean you have gum disease, when you brush make sure you get your gums above and below your teeth and floss daily!

Um, no. Gum disease is caused by bacteria. Cold sores are viral (herpes simplex, as many have pointed out). Just like chlamydia and genital herpes aren't the same thing. Although, your advice for gingivitis prevention is good. :icon17:
