My idea
i get ya now
have ya seen the way company cars are treated ? they get ragged in more ways than one
how do you think a person which knows will more than likely never see the car again and knowing he can blame any faults on anyone
itll be taken in every week to change the tyres, brakes, gearbox etc
and the amount of cars being found 2 countries over

I hear ya and this is where it get's good. If the manufacturer makes a good car that's reliable under those conditions that should make them look even better! How good do you think it'd look for a company that can say hey, we gave this car to a couple thousand people that probably beat the shit out of it and it's still working!losCHUNK wrote:i get ya now

If the car is seriously vandalized then that's an issue that'd have to be dealt with. Perhaps sensors installed in the vehicle to keep track of what shape it's in. It'd be easy to tell who did what to the car while driving though since everyone has to enter their liscence # and ssn#. Since they have an agreement to agree to before they drive the car that'd be covered too. Obviously if the car is half burned to pieces you don't accept the agreement. But again, onstar is usualy able to detect any accidents or anything of that nature.
As for tyres and oil changes it's every 5,000 clicks. I doubt there would be too much mileage racked up on these vehicles since they have to pay for the gas, it'll limit the ammount of mileage and you only have it for 24 hours so it's not like you can drive it to mexico. Plus if you try you're screwed 24 hours later with no drive home.

heh, my point is you could probaly give a hummer (or any car which is tough as shit (not the new hummer btw)) to one person a day for a mnth and its gunna be ragged by every single one of them
after a while one thingll give then another and another which is when it starts getting expensive, even if its being serviced... so they wont be able to pin it down to any 1 person and you gotta think the crime side of it
if its used in a robbery and your company cant track them then its gunna bring bad publicity to you for not having good security or whatever
then theres the cost of insurance your company will need, and lets see what the insurance company says when you tell them "im giving this car to 1 person a day which ive never met before", dolla signs will be spinning in there eyes
and the accumaltion of people not giving a shit in the car (burn holes in seats n shit, lighter not working or bla bla bla), i bet the people driving that car will love it even more with all those mods
thats just some shit i just rattled off, i really have no cluse where it come form

Sure, car rental companies have the same problems but they manage.losCHUNK wrote:heh, my point is you could probaly give a hummer (or any car which is tough as shit (not the new hummer btw)) to one person a day for a mnth and its gunna be ragged by every single one of them
Sure, eventualy it's realistic to expect the car will eventualy not be useful. New cars come out on a yearly basis, all the car has to last is one year, who wants to advertise last years model anyway? I don't think the car lasting one year is too much to ask for.after a while one thingll give then another and another which is when it starts getting expensive, even if its being serviced... so they wont be able to pin it down to any 1 person and you gotta think the crime side of it
Now there's something I hadn't thought of. However, like I said, the car WILL have GPS AND have a speed and acceleration limit PLUS the persons liscence # whos' driving is in the car since he had to plug it in and it's his responsibility. If the car is stolen he should report it so it can be tracked. Obviously it wouldn't get too far since it'll automaticaly shut off 24 hours later or when you stop to refuel after 24 hours. So I don't think that'll be much of a problem.if its used in a robbery and your company cant track them then its gunna bring bad publicity to you for not having good security or whatever
Meh... it's debatable. It's likely a big corporation like Ford could get a decent deal. I mean since they're going to insure like a couple hundred cars plus they could have agreements like Ford will pay for any repair to the car since it'd be no problem for them so those are things an insurance company doesn't have to pay for which would lower the overall cost. I think something could be negotiated here.then theres the cost of insurance your company will need, and lets see what the insurance company says when you tell them "im giving this car to 1 person a day which ive never met before", dolla signs will be spinning in there eyes

Yeah, making the mods as unintrusive as possible is important. But with GPS screens now in many cars it wouldn't be too hard.
I think the hardest part to engineer a marketing feat like this will be being able to keep track of the cars and to keep passing it on. I've thought up a few things to combat people just leaving the car and not giving it to anyone.
It's not that it's difficult but a lot of thigns would require cooperation with a lot of different entities. The goverment will be the worst since we'll need access to a DB of license #'s to match up to and that's instantly accessable through the car. However, the car itself can also be a marketing tool for the company's that choose to help ford, like Onstar, insurance company etc. Have dedicated advertising on the car itself to aleviate some of the cost.

It would be a great idea - I really think it would - until reality hit and someone got in an accident, or it got stolen, or it got trashed like a rental car.... Even if the manufacturer was willing to lose a car every now and then to stuff like that, there would be liability issues that came up, and they'd get sued somehow. They would probably see this coming anyway, which is why an auto dealer would never accept the idea.

NO kracus, it isnt tracked by GPS and doesn't shut off the next day. BECAUSE ITS A STUPID IDEA AND IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.Kracus wrote:It's tracked via GPS and shuts off automaticaly the next day till you reenter a liscence # and ssn#.FragaGeddon wrote:That idea won't fly.
It'll be way to easy for car thiefs.
