It's a great book. As long as you remember it's just a book.

Which shouldn't have to be said anyway. :smirk:

I honestly can't fathom why people think it was a "great book".

i read angels and demons with plans to read da vinci code after, but after reading that book i think dan brown is at best an average writer. it's easily the worst book i have ever read in past 3 years, even tho i am a fan of the genre. i might read da vinci code eventually, but based on angels and demons i don't know what the big fucking deal about is.

that movie would easily rock if stephenson had anything to do with it.

i would like a cryptonomicon movie too, but it would undoubtedly suck compared to the book.

While a tolerable movie, your correct. But to me the rest of his movies far out weight the few ... weaker ones.

I really don't think they should release teasers until they have at least one clip from the movie worth including.

That said, the cast looks good (it will be nice to see Ian McK outside of X-Men and LOTR), the director is at least a capable one, and i'm intrigued by the variation on John Debney's theme to End of Days used in the trailer.

he plays a nice role in ladykillers, although he reminds me too much of Ulysses Everet McGill (Clooney), which did a better job

Hmm, i thought of that too, but when i reread it recently i noticed it had far less dialogue than i remembered and far more story and thoughts, if you will.

Gonna be quite a challenge :)

I don't get that either. I am 3 quarters through it, but it's nothing more than an average adventure yarn. Admittedly the author has done some nice research, but it's probably nothing that's not already available on the net.

I am enjoying it, but I would not say it was "Great".
