As summer approaches...

Post by tnf »

Do you find yourself getting by on less sleep (if you were one who got a decent amount to begin with?)

I normally get up at about 5:30 everyday anyhow, but on weekends I like to sleep in to about 8:00 am. I usually hit the sack at about 10:30-11 pm, so I average about 6.5 hours of sleep a night (not enough, but I'm used to it right now...going to have to get more if this cycle is going to work...but anyhow...). The bitch of it is that our bedroom window is situated so that the instant the sun rises it is shining directly into our giant windows - windows that are too big for blackout shades (unless i have some custom made.) It is pretty much impossible for me to sleep when there is sunlight visible anywhere. So, on the weekends when I want to relax and lounge around in bed until maybe 8:00 am, I can't. Driving me insane.

Anyone else notice that as the days get longer, with late sunsets and early sunrises, you have a tough time feeling like sleeping?

I've cut all caffeine out of my diet save for the 1 can of RedBull I drink every weekday morning during my 1st period class...hasn't helped much though...

I am guessing that some of you don't get enough sleep for any of this to make a difference in the first place...

Sometimes. I don't get much to begin with, but it seems I cut down a little further in the summer. For example, I have to get up in about 6 hours. I might actually get 4.5 or 5 out of it.

Yea actually, I have the same problem.

I'm bad enough about going to bed early normally, but when summer starts I get at least an hour less on average simply because I have a hard time making myself go to bed. I'm just not sleepy.

yes. definately. I usually find it hard to go to bed before midnight, and i tend to wake up about an hour earlier. I think it's because the sunlight is pointing directly at my window.

I can't really complain though, since i'm not tired and i like having that extra time.

I average about 4-5 hours of sleep per night. Never really needed more and can get by on 2-3 when needed. I'm sure I'll sleep for a longer stretch when I'm dead.

I love this time of year :) Light all the time. Love biking at night when it's all quite. No cars, no people anywhere. Only animals. Birds singing etc.. It's awsome :)
