From the link...

Amazing lift capabilitiesWhen Falcon Heavy lifts off, it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two, with the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)--a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel.

Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
Anyone else not think that's another bit of junk stuck in space?

Yeah, but tests like this are necessary to prepare for more precious cargo (humans)...Doombrain wrote:Anyone else not think that's another bit of junk stuck in space?
Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
It's also not staying in Earth orbit where it would be a problem.

Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
And it’s also not going to Mars, which has been widely publicized...
Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
Yeah, I thought I had read that it was planned to crash into Mars, but I guess it's just gonna orbit the solar system for the next billion years. I wonder what the aliens will think when they find it.

Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
It's going to pass by Mars and stay in an elliptical orbit around the Sun

Core booster failed to land on the platform.

Lol thanks.xer0s wrote:Yeah, but tests like this are necessary to prepare for more precious cargo (humans)...Doombrain wrote:Anyone else not think that's another bit of junk stuck in space?
My point is he could have put something useful up there. There's plenty of companies looking to get things in space. I think it's a case of 'got nothing good to say, don't say anything'.
Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
I saw the pods landed almost at the same time but can't find anything on the main engine ?Eraser wrote:Core booster failed to land on the platform.
Re: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch webcast right now
Musk gave the rocket a 50/50 chance of exploding, that's kind of a big risk to take for a customer.
