Jan Paul van Waveren passed away

Not sure how many of you know (of) him but he was instrumental in developing the AI for the Quake 3 bots (a job he landed at id Software because of his success with the Gladiator bot for Quake 2) and idTech in general onward. I'm not sure what happened to him but I saw John Carmack tweet about it (with lots of old id Software peeps and industry veterans chiming in).

he also made the omricon bot for Q1 I believe.. when I saw those bots navigate around the maps I was like [mindblown.gif]

Yeah, I think he was in his 20s when he joined ID Software.
