this looks somewhat questionable
Re: Alien: Covenant
I'm not sold on it. Trailer looks almost like some teen slasher flick. It could be just poor direction on the trailer, looks like they showed all the death scenes, why watch the movie when they've already spoiled how everyone dies?

What the fuck? Really wish I hadn't watched that trailer...
Re: Alien: Covenant
Interesting Daily Mail (UK) article and pictures from the Sydney Australia sets here for some perhaps.

Re: Alien: Covenant
tbh all trailers are spoilers

ditching the Prometheus handle kinda shows they knows they fucked up. proper Alien tho, ey

I don't mind them going back to Alien so long as it's done properly, they need to get the thriller aspect nailed down though and that's something a lot of horrorish movies forget these days. They think by throwing blood and jump scares at a screen is what makes a good movie.
Promo had the makings of a great film but was completely let down by a shite script, but what I find confusing is their continual attempts to return to what made Aliens great yet miss every aspect that made it the film it was. It's getting to the point where they're flogging a dead horse now, or past it. With RS still board and Lindelof gone this might be their last chance at convincing me the franchise is still worth my attention.

Re: Alien: Covenant
LosChunk, you mentioned both Alien and Aliens in your post. While I agree that both were pretty phenomenal, only the first one had that real thriller aspect. The second one was a generic action-ride, although a very good one.
Mushrooms:
Did you guys catch that mushroom/spore- scene in the trailer? And did you read William Gibson's Alien3 script? I wonder what that is about.
Re: Alien: Covenant
Aye but with Resurection and Promo, they were trying to redo Aliens which is what they keep returning to, esp if you include AvP. A return to Alien might be whats needed so long as they keep the thriller and suspense.
Alien 3 was kinda trying to capture that essence but ended up bollocks - story, characters, plot... All shite.

Re: Alien: Covenant
You could argue that the Aliens are able to breath on the human bases/ships so it stands to reason that their planet has to have some of the same air qualities as Earth....but you know...seremtan wrote:yeah note how they wander around an alien planet without helmets on

It's so you can see the talent, ..same reason they always have lights shining in their eyes when they ever bother to put their helmets on.

Re: Alien: Covenant
it wasn't really the oxygen/nitrogen ratio i was thinking of; more the sheer quantity of micro-organismsDon Carlos wrote:You could argue that the Aliens are able to breath on the human bases/ships so it stands to reason that their planet has to have some of the same air qualities as Earth....but you know...
if a planet has life on it, then it has microbes/viruses; they're the most basic form of life there is. we've evolved to deal with them in our own biosphere (well, most of them) but not in someone else's. this is problem numero uno vis-a-vis colonising other planets

Re: Alien: Covenant
that never ceases to amuse me. IRL they wouldn't be able to see shit through all that glarephantasmagoria wrote:It's so you can see the talent, ..same reason they always have lights shining in their eyes when they ever bother to put their helmets on.

Hmm, true. Never thought about it that way, really.phantasmagoria wrote:...they always have lights shining in their eyes when they ever bother to put their helmets on.
