Re: Car choice
I haven't explored the choice at all but if I was to choose it would be KIA for me and only for the 7 year warranty here.

Got my eye on the Skoda Octavia Blackline when my Saab 9-3 finally falls to pieces, which it's refusing to do despite 180k on the clock. The Engine management light's even stopped coming on recently

Henry Ford and his son were nazis (or of the nazi party).Eraser wrote:Ford? Nazi's? Whut?
He was backing the Germans in 1940 and used slave labour, right up until Americas entry into the war - whilst refusing to build engines for the likes of the RAF despite supplying the Germans with war materials. Hitler had a portrait of Henry Ford in his office, spoke of him highly in Mein Kampf and called him his inspiration.
Shame really, as despite his beliefs I still find Ford a great man. I just hope his persecution was only skin deep and he was unaware of the genocides :/
I also read that he had odd rules for his employees, despite providing a standard of living far superior to any other employer they would also be required to behave in certain ways - like an authoritarian who adamantly believes the masses require control. I think they were required to follow God, not be home too late / guests / alcohol n all that and had their homes frequently inspected by the company.

Wow I didn't know all that. I assumed Memphis had hit the bong too hard and couldn't keep his Fords from his VWs.losCHUNK wrote:Henry Ford and his son were nazis (or of the nazi party).Eraser wrote:Ford? Nazi's? Whut?

Re: Car choice
Nobody is saying that the Germany of now is the same as during WW2, but these things happened and we shouldn't dismiss it as something annoying that nobody can stop talking about (like the Kardashians)AndyW wrote:AAaahh.. That Nazi stuff again, i cant hear it anymore...

Re: Car choice
Caught me by surprise too, I hadn't long finished reading about how he was the 1st business man to empower the working man so to speak - he wrestled the patent for automobile manufacture off the companies, offered triple the minimum wage, provided accommodation for his workers and gave them a standard of work place safety / training and this is without going into the fact that he pretty much invented high yield production lines.Eraser wrote: Wow I didn't know all that. I think he was the good guy he just had a severely warped sense of how society should work, I mean the set up he had for his employees seemed more like a cult :s
Saying that Howard Hughes was bat shit insane and that dudes seen as a legend.

This is history we're discussing. If everyone took your stance then things like the genocide of the natives on the American continent would never be mentioned, the English conquests, crusades...
TLDR: Don't mention the war.

In an era of fuel economy they are still pushing out 12MPG V8 beasts.
