I finally got a beta invite so I'll be the first nerd to start this shit up
This game is fucking phenomenal. Take MTG and get rid of all the elitist bullshit, overly complex rules, turns that take ages, matches that last an hour, buying hand-picked cards to win, and make the game fun instead of just being all about Wizard's greed. The fact that the arena system (phantom booster drafts) lets you play each match when YOU want to blew my mind. No more four hour plus tournaments.

There's definitely a lot of room for knowledge and skill to come up with some complex strategies, but overall it is a bit simpler currently. The games are so much faster but if you draw from your MTG experience and slow your own pace it becomes easy to dominate.
It just doesn't have the same card pool with decades of new mechanics to consider. And decks are only 30 cards with no graveyard interaction. The biggest difference in complexity is that each player gets a single phase to cast and attack (there are no instants or flash spells). Attacking doesn't prevent you from blocking and mana is given to you rather than coming from cards (though some cards do give mana). You unlock cards similar to how Duels of the Planeswalker works but have to make a custom deck to use them.
My favorite feature after lots of frustrating matches in MTGO is ranked match-making multiplayer.
Card crafting is cool as fuck too. You can burn non-basic cards you don't want and use the reagents to craft tons of other great cards. You can also win the reagents in arena mode.
I installed this on my computer today as well. Not sure what my Battle.net id is with the weird hashtag format, and I certainly dislike having to give up my real name. I'm spineless and weakwilled though, so I signdd up anyway. Will share my account name when I get to it.
I've been playing the Beta for a few months now and the game is solid. Good mechanics, easy to pick up and play but hard to master. And I have to say, the design lends itself to a visceral experience. Even though there are no "real" cards like Magic or L5R, there's still a certain satisfaction to opening new packs or playing powerful cards and having them thump down on the board. Also, it allows Blizzard to do some interesting game mechanic things with random number generators.

So Blizzard introduced this recruitment system in Hearthstone, based on referral links. So if anyone (in the EU region!) wants to try out Hearthstone and get a free pack of cards from the start, then visit my referral link:
If the combined level of your heroes reaches 20 I'll get a free pack as well (which is pretty easy, considering each of the 9 heroes starts at level 1 so you only have to climb 11 levels and at such low levels you pretty much climb a level per game played, even against the computer AI).
