I'm beginning to regret accepting the term 'cisgender' into my vocabulary...

Re: Gender Master List
There's men
There's women
There's those with some medical deformation that prevents them from being fully categorized into either group.
That last group is biologically abnormal.

We live in a world where kids have been raised thinking if they wanna be a unicorn they can be a fucking unicorn, and that's ok. Be whatever you want. Then you get reality shows where the most fucked up dickhead wins for being a character, and that's ok.

Re: Gender Master List
I don't know if I'd call being trans a medical deformation. It may be accurate in the strictest sense of the word, but I don't think anyone likes being called deformed.

Case in point: Rachel Dolezal. That chick who identified as black even though she had 2 white parents.losCHUNK wrote:We live in a world where kids have been raised thinking if they wanna be a unicorn they can be a fucking unicorn, and that's ok. That being said, if you want to identify as a unicorn, then have at it. Just don't insist on haybales when you go out to eat at a restaurant. Or pretend to be black and become president of an NAACP chapter.

Re: Gender Master List

I believe he's thinking of intersex people, not trans.Transient wrote:I don't know if I'd call being trans a medical deformation. It may be accurate in the strictest sense of the word, but I don't think anyone likes being called deformed.

Re: Gender Master List
Yeah transgenders are fine, they still tick the male or female box. I'm just weirded out by people that insist gender should be a free text field on your registration form. And ultimately I don't care what someone identifies as, but it's become fashionable to take such things really totally serious and it's elevated to some kind of international injustice that people are "forced" to think of gender as a binary thing. I believe this affects so few people that the amount of attention it is getting is disproportionate. So to drive this home, I'm explicitly calling gender fluidity out as something abnormal. It's fine if you feel that way, but don't act like it should be the norm.U4EA wrote:I believe he's thinking of intersex people, not trans.Transient wrote:I don't know if I'd call being trans a medical deformation. Re: Gender Master List
Well said.
It annoys me that so much effort is spent on something so fucking trivial when it could be spent on much more important things that actually matter.
Same goes for the fucking SJW femenazis shouting on the street that all men are pigs and protesting about pink children's toys. Meanwhile in Africa FGM and daily domestic abuse on a MASSIVE scale.

Re: Gender Master List
Too many people from the trans community take it as a personal slight when they hear someone resist changing their vocabulary. One wrong pronoun and suddenly you're transphobic. They should save their outrage for the true bigots out there.

more equitable human-ice interactionsGlaciers are key icons of climate change and global environmental change. However, the relationships among gender, science, and glaciers – particularly related to epistemological questions about the production of glaciological knowledge – remain understudied. This paper thus proposes a feminist glaciology framework with four key components: 1) knowledge producers; (2) gendered science and knowledge; (3) systems of scientific domination; and (4) alternative representations of glaciers. Merging feminist postcolonial science studies and feminist political ecology, the feminist glaciology framework generates robust analysis of gender, power, and epistemologies in dynamic social-ecological systems, thereby leading to more just and equitable science and human-ice interactions.
