BetaNews has an interview with David Lazar, Director of Genuine Windows at Microsoft, discussing Windows Genuine Advantage Program, which will soon require all Windows users to verify their license before downloading updates.
"We started the program last September in the US and we decided to make it opt in, which means that customers could choose whether or not to participate. And we said that at some point in the future it may be required and in fact in January we announced that in mid-2005 it would become required. So we have given people a lot of time to get used to the program."
FlamingTP is actually not referring to lol in the classical sense of the acronym "laughing out loud." Instead, he is trying to convey his anger (denoted by the use of the word "crap") by offering the crude image of a stick figure raising his arms in the air in protest of this henious action being committed by that shitdog of a farce of a company known as The Microsoft Coorporation aka "the vole." The stick figure unfortunately does not have a face and the arms are indeed simplified through the use of a lowercase "l" in verdana font, and actually this is quite typical for stick figures; however, it is readily apparent how the acronym and the stick figure could be confused. As my colleague and friend [xeno]Julios put so succinctly, "Natural forces do not discriminate based on human normative conceptions."
