Re: What is new in your little world?
I remember going to car show so long ago it was free entry and they gave out so any brochures you'd want. In those days they'd let you actually sit in the cars and yes even the super-cars.

Ordered one of these...

Should be here next week.
27", 2560 x 1440, IPS, 144Hz. Only downside is that it uses Freesync instead of G-Sync, but I guess I'm not likely to notice as long as my GPU can keep pushing +60fps. There is an Acer with similar specs w/ G-Sync, but it's an Acer and reviews says poor build quality.

Re: What is new in your little world?
Why wouldn't you just order the GSYNC variant instead? GSYNC is awesome...really foolish to pass it up with that 970 you just bought. Its the PG279Q

Thanks, Phantasmagoria, I'll look in to chavant plasteline once I exhaust my current supply of clay. That forum is a good resource toophantasmagoria wrote: For resin models I'd recommend using non-sulphur based chavant plasteline. You can get insane detail with it and it never dries out, it's quite costly but then it's reusable. It comes in different hardnesses, it's really nice to smooth detail with IPA and the warmer it is the softer it is. You can even pour it if you warm it up in a saucepan or a batik pot (though the fumes smell ass). When toymakers make their resin figures they start with plasteline and then mould it and recast it in tooling wax to get finer detail and then finally remould the wax one for the resin castings.

Just came back from a trip to London and Berlin. I was in London for two days before heading over to Berlin for a week for the Cisco Live event. I'll never go to London willingly again; it's dull, dirty, and way too crowded. I happened to be there at the right time for the Chinese New Year festival happening near the Leicester Square area which was pretty cool.
Berlin was fantastic and I look forward to going back next year. My hotel was two blocks from Checkpoint Charlie, and I had time to check out the East Side Gallery, Topography of Terror, and Raw Temple/Neue Heimat. Coincidentally, I came in to Berlin the same day the president of Israel came in so a lot of streets were closed off and, apparently, the annual International Film Festival was going on that week.

Re: What is new in your little world?
That one is not IPS. I can't work with TN panels so that's an immediate 'no'. So it's a tradeoff, but I'll take IPS over G-Sync.shaft wrote:Why wouldn't you just order the GSYNC variant instead? GSYNC is awesome...really foolish to pass it up with that 970 you just bought. Its the PG279Q
If there's a better recommendation, I still have a 30-day return policy to work with.

I have the old TN swift. The IPS one is fairly new.

Oh wow, you're right. I looked it up but it's twice the price! WTF?

Re: What is new in your little world?
Probably because it's just released, and you pay $100 nvidia tax for the GYSNC module.
Re: What is new in your little world?
I'll look into it, check reviews, and shop around for a better price. I wouldn't want to pay a huge premium just for G-Sync, $150 or less is acceptable.

Re: What is new in your little world?
You want to have some sort of variable refresh rate, that's for sure.
Re: What is new in your little world?
I want to try G-SYNC but I've heard they have some horrible quality control issues with the ROGs, I'll wait a year or two for things to stabilize. Not ready to replace my 1440p ASUS yet anyways.
Re: What is new in your little world?
There were quality control issues for a few months on the PG278Q from July to October 2014 from what I can remember. I bought mine in November 2014 and all three were fine. I did make sure that it was a new batch by comparing serial numbers posted on overclock.net.Captain Mazda wrote:I want to try G-SYNC but I've heard they have some horrible quality control issues with the ROGs, I'll wait a year or two for things to stabilize. If you're gonna wait, you might be waiting for a very long time.

Wonder what kind of reactions gramps is looking for.
Maybe constructive ones, a bit like so: shame you got rid of the wood gramps, now the grimy Soviet look and feel of a classic gun has been replaced by parts that seem to have been pilfered from defective 90's era M16's, creating an ugly hybrid noone with any sense of decency & fashion would want to get shot by.

I like it, especially the flash suppressor. How many rounds does that mag hold?

Just ignore Gybloki, he's eternally butt-hurt... That's a 30 round mag.
