I have yet to see any house here that has plaster, period. Most of the older houses here have wooden slat walls. This one doesn't. The windows were redone from the same style that they have now. They used to be single pane double hung, as most of the older houses here have. Now they are double pane storm windows. And the bathroom hasn't been updated yet, because I haven't gotten that far. Like I said, I just bought the house. I do the work myself and do it over time. I have no deadline to get it done. What is so hard to understand about that? Oh, and I never said the bathroom was the only area that needed a little updating. I said I wasn't doing the whole house. You assumed the rest.
I got the year (era) right and everything I said was period relevant. You said "Light fixture and switch will take a total of about 15 minutes to change. Door another 15 minutes". I didn't assume the bathroom was the only area. You implied it. But all in all I hit the nail on the head. You bought an old fixer-upper. Enjoy your renovation nightmare.

I said that because those are the items you pointed out. I didn't imply shit. What you said might have been period relevant, but they were wrong. It's all cosmetic, I don't see where you're coming up with a renovation nightmare. Like I said, if you have half the experience you claim, you would know that these are easy updates. I know you're desperate to have me living in shambles, but that's nowhere near the truth. Go back to twisting your screwdriver and let me handle this. It's not the big deal you're trying to make it. This isn't my first rodeo.

I pointed out those items in the bathroom because they were the only things I could see. I went on to speculate that because the bathroom looked that way, so did the rest of the house. Then you specifically referenced the bathroom with no mention of anything else, implying the bathroom was the only problem. If you think changing out 1950s tiles is merely cosmetic, you're sadly mistaken. You're going to have to REMODEL the entire bathroom. Because removing the tile will cause you to have to replace the drywall. To remove the dry, you'll have to remove the tub/shower/toilet/casework/lights. After that will be the electrical and plumbing upgrades. And the list goes on... BTW, I haven't "professionally" twisted a screw driver in years. Though I'm sure I'm still infinitely better at it than you.

You seem to be stuck on my watch for some reason. Did a watch molest you as a child or something?

You're reading way too much into what I said. I'm not going to sit here and list what all I'm going to do. Yes, the bathroom was talked about because as you said, it's the only thing visible in that image. There's really not much else that needs to be done, but there are a few things. I've removed and replaced tile before. Drywall is easy and so is the toilet. I won't need to remove the tub or shower. There's no need to touch the electrical or plumbing. The tile does not go behind the counter and only covers the bottom half of the walls. The tile in the shower is fine and doesn't need to be replaced. So, no, I will not have to remodel the entire bathroom. Thanks for your concern, but I have this.

But yet you can hardly make it out in the picture. I can't help but think you're upset at something else (like how inferior I make you feel) and you're trying to make an issue out of something else.

You gonna be okay, bro?

Mentioning something doesn't have to be everything... And it sounds like you plan to half ass the bathroom as well. Leaving a 50's tub/shower and casework is going to look awful. You might as well leave the 50s tile too. :puke:

Tub, toilet and sink have been replaced. I will replace the casework at some point. No hurry. I have no idea why they left that and the tile in there. Maybe they liked it. At any rate, it will not be half assed and nowhere near the nightmare you seem to want it to be.

I think shaft nailed it and you put it on just for the photo because you thought it was something you could brag about, but it backfired and now you need it to go away.

And I'm telling you it's not. I'm not new to working on houses. I've been doing it since I was a teenager. You don't have to go at everything with a sledgehammer and start over. A lot of times this old tile will come off without destroying the drywall. I've done it a few times in houses very similar in age to this one. Maybe they did things different in Florida in the 50s, I don't know. But here, I know what I'm dealing with.

Even though I explained that it's my every day wear and I don't really notice wearing it. Besides, you're calling it cheap and then telling me I'm showing off. Make up your tiny mind. I think you're feeling inferior and desperately trying to find something to shit on.

Cheer up.

Post up the pics of your reusable drywall wall after you demo the tile. Then post the competed job when done. I'm sure the hodgepodge cosmetic work will look great.
