Isn't this typical of AMD tho?
Shows off paper benchmarks and etc to get hype and etc, gets everyone hyped up, releases it only for it to be a flop?

New card is great and everything, but reliable driver releases would be better.
Re: Looks like AMD win?
Never had a prob with their drivers tbf.
We'll see though, both companies are just full of hot air atm.

I haven't been rocking an AMD since the k8, I did have a r9 280x for about a month.xer0s wrote:You're the freak. You tell us...
Hopefully it actually does decent tho, then Intel and nvidia step up their game and we all win! =]
Re: Looks like AMD win?
They're both switching to finFET and HBM2. Nobody knows who will win until cards actually come out, but Nvidia won for the past few years.
Re: Looks like AMD win?
Well, here's how I see it. GTX 480 (Apr 2010) wasn't a very good card due to excessive heat and power consumption. One could argue that Radeon 5870 (Sep 2009) was a better purchase as long as you were OK with owning an AMD card.AmIdYfReAk wrote:heh, few.
Since then, AMD didn't have anything in the same price range as GTX 580 (Nov 2010) so people who couldn't afford it went with 6970. In the end, Nvidia truly destroyed AMD when their mid-range chip GTX 680 (Mar 2012) was faster and cooler than flagship chip 7970.

6970 was a great card, the 290 is a tidy card for 970 performance n all - the old 4850 low-mid range card, those things were epic for the price. Anything top end though has been nvidia territory for a long while but AMD have been rather good and finding gaps in the market to stay alive. Their new cards seem to be a sack of shite too.
Can't believe how utterly shite their CPU range is though, they went from genuine competition in around 06 ? to near nobodies after the core2duo.
