I kept a pretty close eye on the case as it was unfolding but I can't remember much of the specifics anymore :/
I know the investigation / prosecution was a joke, they fucked up the crime scene - they removed the door and walked over it before leaving it in someones office then lost and missed evidence. They even got a forensic expert that was ripped apart in the dock because he based most of his findings on internet research
I was shocked by the outcome though, if only for the fact that he shot with the intent to kill someone based on nothing but his word that he woke up startled. At the very least he meant to kill someone and there wasn't much evidence indicating that he had reason to believe that it was an intruder with a shit ton of stuff not adding up (I didn't mean to shoot (4 times) / I shot because I heard the door).
It's also insane that he could do something like that and after serving less than a year in prison would've been released on house arrest.
