You can clearly see the gun in his hand. :dork:
was shot after he jumped out of the car with a gun in his hand...
A gun flies from the victim's hand...
What's the confusion?

Police Manual:

*Pull over suspect
*If suspect shows any amount of human emotion and/or does not instantly grovel and comply with your demands, and:
(A) suspect has nothing in his hands and has no pockets, immediately tazer with ~20,000 volts until suspect is in a more manageable position (preferably prone or supine)
(B) suspect has an object in hand (gun, rock, cellphone, ninja turtle) or pockets are bulging, fire at least one 9mm round in his direction to let him know you mean business. If you miss the suspect and he is still holding said object, or tries to empty his pockets, proceed to fire until he is in a more manageable position (preferably prone or supine).
*Claim suspect had foamy mouth and aggressive tendencies.

Didn't watch the video, but from your post I can infer that he was reaching for something in his pocket. I don't care if it's a candy bar - if I'm a cop and I'm trying to arrest you and you reach for anything concealed on your person I'm going to shoot you. Sure, I'm not going to TRY and kill you, but you are going down.

Good for the LAPD :icon14:

Do you know any cops? I'm not trying to slam you here, but in case you hadn't noticed EVERYONE hates cops, and if I were one I wouldn't hesitate popping someone especially if I actually saw a weapon held in aggression.

too keep it real if you look closly at the vid it looks like one of the first shots hits him in his ass and the gun flys outta hid hand and flys forward infront of him, then he reaches for his hip/ass where he just took a bullet. then after that it looks more like he is going for his pocket, but at first it looks like he grabs back there cuz he took one back there. whatch it again and see.

lol that's just so american. first the unneeded violence, and secondly the cameraman going: "zoom out for gods sake!!!" and trying to hide the fact that he was shot.

Any decent european tv station would have continued to film it.

No offense taken.

I don't have a problem with cops defending themselves with force (I do know a couple of cops btw, one of my good friends from school became a police officer).
I do have a problem with more and more frequent use of excessive force by police, even in cases where it is unneccessary.

And I didn't watch the clip in this thread either, so I'm not making any judgement on the specific incident. I was just commenting on the trend I've seen lately. We even have a TV show today that glorifies the growing attitude of cops that they're better or more human than the people they encounter -- it's a lot like the dehumanizing soldiers do to their enemies during wars.

You've got to wonder what he's thinking when he gets shot the first time and falls, then hears more shots being fired. To me that's the most terrifying thing about it--knowing you are going to die in the next few seconds, and then *pow*...
