Re: What are you working on?

Appalled at how bad some of the played Q4 (converted) maps were a few years ago, I figured I'd just build anew, from scratch, instead of making an nth version of something already half-existing in that game. Since I've been very involved in QW the past 5 years, I went with a remake of Bravado : http...

Re: Q4 on Mac with PC DVD

The cd key will work fine. You'll be able to install Q4 patches (ie http://www.macgamefiles.com/detail.php?item=19123 ) without having the game installed. When you're done, just copy pak001.pk4 up to and including pak011.pk4 from the pc DVD to /Applications/Quake4/q4base. However - Quake4.app, in al...

Well, you can easily disable the quad in tourney by adding the following key/value pairs to its entity
filter_dm 1
filter_tdm 1

That'll make sure it shows up in dm(ffa) and tdm, and not tourney (or duel in q4max). Apparently a single filter_tourney 0 doesn't do the trick ;)

Ran around quickly.. nice job on the visuals and performance. Can't really tell about gameplay (since I was looking at the aforementioned two aspects).

When that happens, I like to respawn as soldier and feed it rockets, then go back to whatever I was doing. ymmv :)

Provided you install actual drivers from ATI/NV instead of sticking to vista's built-in stuff, the infamous OpenGL "issues" should be a thing of the past.

From what we're seeing with regular q4 clients and Vista, you probably might want to run your +editor shortcut as admin, too.

You can't do without uploading everything. Non pure servers are a no-go outside of developer testing nowadays due to pak downloads and addon maps etc.

Make sure you check out the latest readme that came after you installed the 1.3 point release in Quake 4/docs and you'll find out a thing or two. (you _have_ installed it, haven't you ? :) )

I kinda miss the hb corridor, but I like the added teleporter in the MH room : looking at the wall and floor that used to be in that spot, it looked like the right spot for an elevator. I'll start with commented screenshots again. :) 1) MH room http://hemostick.free.fr/quake/q4/method/thinwall.gif T...

Alright, here I go... 1) The RA room http://hemostick.free.fr/quake/q4/method/raroom00.gif Looking at the RA from across, we've got all the lower room not only processed, but rendered too as there is no separation with the bottom part of the room. I'll take care of that in my second point, but if we...

I've run around a few times, especially with some dev options on. You've done a great job of detailing with the stock textures. I really like your use of flares. :) The only problem I have with the visuals is that the lighting does not look much different from having a single ambient light, I hope y...

Argh, not that material on a floor ! Multiple pass materials with cubemapping are a perf. killer on slower machines, especially when used on big surfaces and even with forceambient.
