It's called a volkswagen GTI, not a Golf GTI.
But yes essentialy they are the same cars.

On a side note, has anybody here ever got hold of one of the old 4WD Golfs produced a few years ago? A friend of mine has an unhealthy obsession with VW's and now that his latest pet project (his rat-look 80's camper is complete) he has managed to get hold of one. I've always been a fan of Volkswag...

So you'd not take any steps to ensure the reliability of the motor, fine. I would. What I'm wondering is, who said anything about changing internals? Do you consider head studs to be internals? And I'm just curious here, are you speaking from experience? How many turbocharged VW motors have you bui...

I agree with you, give me a giixxer 1000 and it will do 9@150mph on the 1/4 with some bolt ons. By saying a fullly bolted on S3 is slow is dumb. The s4's are different story, they are hella pigs, how heavy is the s3? 3000-3200 pounds? Your s3 motor has ko4 turbo same like Audi TT correct? 3040lbs, ...

So you're saying that you don't think it's necessary to strengthen the engine even slightly when running it at 25psi of boost and expect it to last for any reasonable amount of time? I am not the only one saying this, the whole vw community says with 300whp you need to change anything. a vw block i...

It's kewl you can admit you aren't informed about these cars, or wtv, I don't mind, but when you guys talk outa your ass telling me what can and can't be done, without having any or little knowledge about the subject this is what's funny. I am not pointing this out to any person, but it goes for eve...

I think slow is the wrong word to use. Stock they are slowER, but to someone who's only driven a chipped jetta, it would feel like a bloody rocket. I think we can agree on that. I think it's funny you drive a modded car and know nothing about 1.8T's. Do you tune with your credit car? like you pay p...

oh and the reason i shout bullshit is because 24psi is about 1.6/1.7 bar. No way would the standard turbo run at that for long also he would need bigger injectors and also a bigger fuel pump and a new inter cooler. But the fact is the standard turbo would not hold that much pressure I am still laug...

But revo hardware does suck, I am sorry. No it doesn't. It just doesn't under any circumstances. And revo isn't hardware, it's software. entirely correct it is software, i was typing fast and not paying attention. And yes it does suck, I have smoked countless revod 1.8t's. The best software is GIAC...

The reason that shaft_minus_a_wife is so upset and following me around in every forum I post in, is because not only is he bitter at other men groping his wifes tits and filling her cunt, but also because he got owned by someone he didn't expect to get owned by. After this piece of truth from memph...

Again, go fuck yourself. By all means, don't build the motor with any sort of reliability in mind. Again with 280whp-300whp reliability is not an issue at all with these motors. But if you say so. So you're saying that you don't think it's necessary to strengthen the engine even slightly when runni...

Actually it probably has 230bhp since the chip adds 40 and it has a bigger downpipe and lighter pulleys. He demolished another 1.8T chipped jetta yesterday by bus lengths and he destroyed a G35c, so its quick. It ran 14.5@102mph in 0 degree weather with stock suspension and stock exhaust, so now it...

Gee, something tells me that's not your friend's car. :dork: So, what gas is he running in it? I assume he's got titanium headbolts? Thicker head gasket maybe? What's his compression ratio? What's he using to control the detonation? Are you joking? titanium headbolts wow man. Your ignorance shins t...

A top speed of 243 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds put the S3 ahead of rival cars, even many with much larger engines. Not a slow standard car by ANY strech of the imagination. And i know a fair bit about cars and the 1.8T will hold more than most i agree. Its a part of th...
