Looks good. I would also be worried about lack of vertical action in the map, but you'll make it work.

Re: How to setup GTKradiant1.5 for QUAKE-1 ?
I am using Radiant 1.5 for Quake 1 mapping under Windows 7. I can confirm that it works and saves your files once its setup properly. I used the explanation by GB which I linked above. I do not compile from within Radiant though, I use a small batch script, as Theftbot suggested. My script is availa...

Did you see this? How to get started: Very briefly, go to the ‘Groups’ tab and join the ‘Booth Creators’ , ‘Event Creators’ and/or the ‘Writers and News Authors’ group depending on what kind of content you wish to create. Then post a request in that booth. For more detail see the FAQ link on the sid...

I also have a technical background in programming and I use HPC to do research at a german university. Some years ago I also liked to compile my own linux kernels and stuff like that. It's cool and super-nerdy. Few people here are gonna get what this is about. And if they do, they may ask themselves...

Re: Screenshots
I bought it and they are releasing patches and updates quite regularly. You can get an impression of the player count at steam charts. I'm not sure whether Steam is the only way to play it, but it seems so.MKJ wrote:Whatever happened to Reflex, btw?

I managed to get my map converted using v2 of the tool posted by Francky. The map worked with bots, the script also did the hex editing properly.

For me it did not. Others have made it work, so in theory I guess it should work. Maybe try it manually yourself with your version of q3map2 before changing your script.

Thanks for the info. I'll just forget about it. @SpaKK (next post in list): Thanks for your efforts. What is the latest official version of q3map2 and bspc? I found this for q3map2 at obsidian's page, not sure if it's official or the latest: http://q3map2.robotrenegade.com/downloa ... win64_x86/ But where should I look for the latest bspc version? Is the one that comes with Radiant the latest? If s...

Re: Quake Live Steam aas
I haven't been around for quite a while, but now that QL has the workshop on Steam, I thought I could try and convert some of my old and crappy Q3A maps to QL. After reading this thread, it seems that parts of all the stuff HipShot does are only needed because of terrain blending and other stuff. I ...

Re: Screenshots
I'm sure that Rage will be a good SP game but I also know that it's not the kind of game I like to play. And I am very sure that its MP won't have a Quake-feeling to it. It can't replace Q3A, it can't even be compared to it. (What I've seen of Rage so far reminded me of Borderlands in a Mad Max sett...

Re: kazdm6 alpha 1
I guess the problem exists for all teleporters that lead to a destination you can't see from the entry point.
If you can see / shoot the exit from the tele entry area (like the one in phrantic, which may be the best tele in any q3a map) it is fine I guess. If not, it sucks.

Re: kazdm6 alpha 1
I never liked the idea of teleporters near important items like RA. Some cpm maps have this and it's the only thing I found strange about these maps.
I mean what's the point? The guy who grabbed the powerful stuff can 1) escape easily and 2) surprise people who are near the tele exit.

I try to get as many places as possible lit with skylight (both in q2 and q3) because it looks cool and saves tons of work, then I place lights manually for the rest. I always use a bit of ambient/_minlight, too.

I think the point of 1) is that you can merge many brushes and thus create a single brush with many surfaces easily in Unreal. Dunno about 2).

Re: kazdm6 alpha 1
It has nothing to do with the Quake server, just make the DNS name point to the IP of the box. If you don't have a domain (which usually is ~ $1 or $2 per month) you can get a free subdomain at various free DNS providers (like your-name-here.dyndns.org).

Re: Need to make an elevator
This usually means that Radiant fucked things up with an entity, when it happened to me it almost always was a teleporter. Whenever that message comes up I make a backup of my map file, then I open it in a text editor and have a look at the volume based entity definitions near the end of the file. I...

Re: map testing jgothbeta
The texturing is great and suits the brushwork perfectly - although the textures are dated. I wouldn't change this map, just do something that's not baseq3 in your next map and everyone will be happy.
