Try this...
Wow. Haven't been here in a while. Anyway, if you're still interested, here's a couple things to try. You said 1.31 server? I think that only runs under OS9, right? In that case, you need to start the application with a control click? (command click? I don't remember, it's been so long since I used ...

Thanks a lot Johnny and d3molition. I really appreciate the info. As I mentioned, I have done some reading and seen some tutorials but I guess it just doesn't get through my thick skull. This helps a lot, though and I've read your posts several times. So, quick question, let's say I make four walls....

Q3A - Noob-ish map questions
Hey, all! OK, so I'm getting into Q3 mapping a little late. I've wanted to try it for a while but I use a Mac and I just found out about the Radiant on Mac tools. :D Havin' a blast with my first map, but I got a million questions. I've read a lot on the web and a lot here in the archives but am stil...

Well, the new server FINALLY arrived. And looks like I get the RH Linux as a free upgrade instead of Centos. So far, looking like it's running much better than the old Celeron, but time will tell. Quick question, since the cvar to turn on multi-proc is r_smp, am I correct in assuming that this is a ...

Linux Q3 Server - How to send console messages?
Hello, all! Well, I've searched and searched and can't find anything about this. Something tells me it should be simple, though. I want to send a console message (and/or command) to my linux server from a cron command. It needs to be at a set time, so pb_sv_task won't do it for me. Is there any way ...

Hey, S@M, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm really happy with the new comp. I wanted to upgrade before the new Intel processors come out. Even though they are supposed to run G4/G5 software with an emulator, I've got a bunch of render-heavy software I bought that I'm concerned won't work (or won't wor...

Q3 Screen not centered
Hey, all! New G5 just arrived last night. :D Didn't have time to do much with it yet, but I did give Q3 a quick run and timedemo. And, I noticed an odd problem. The Q3 screen isn't centered. In fact, I'm missing a good chunk of the left part of the screen. And the right side of the screen is just bl...

Centos v. Fedora Core
If I move to a dual Xeon machine, which Linux OS should I go for? Running several dedicated q3 servers is my main focus for the server. The hosting provider is recommending Centos because Fedora Core doesn't take advantage of the Xeon's 64-bit capabilities. (So far I've been running FC4 on a Celeron...

Thanks again! But, unfortunately, it still gives me signal 11. Actually, the version I got from id's FTP site is. linuxq3apoint-1.32b-3.x86.run I did find out that the server that runs everything fine is Fedora Core 3 (2.6.9-1.681_FC3) and the one that's giving me troubles is - Fedora Core 3 (2.6.12...

Thanks for the replies... 1) I've tried a number of maps. CTF and DM. Always signal 11. 2) Running just the basic q3 - no mods. I've tried a variety of com_hunkmegs settings, too. Only thing that doesn't generate a signal 11 is if I set com_hunkmegs so low it won't load the map. Thanks again, - NjR_...

Linux: q3ded Signal 11 on map load
Hey, all! Wow. Good to see these forums back. I've been lurking a bit, trying to remember my old password so I could use my old account, but alas.... Anyway, I'm hoping some linux guru out there can help me. I run a couple q3 linux servers using q3ded. One machine works great, but because of the hea...
