Holy Fucking Shit.

They really managed to squeee every last drop out of the console to power this.
The first decent use of destructable terrain since Red Faction.

Didn't know there was a PS2 version, that should be funny. Looks good on xbox from what i saw before.
EDIT: Just as I thought, its an "all round" trailer. Taken on the best hardware to show the game off to its fullest. Looks fun, but wont look like that on PS2. IGN have gamecube pics of RE4 in the PS2 section as well, its just because its "RE4 media". You can tel lthose black pics are not from the PS2 game, because there isn't any banding on them, abd the PS2 runs in 16bit with lower res effect and textures.
(Plus, the reason this works so well on xbox is again, because of the ahrddrive. So of course the xbox version is the choice to go with).
Still looks like a fantastic game no matter what format its on. Bet carmacks sitting on his dusty throne rigth now thinking "pfft, my physics are still better...".

There is one, thats was surprised me. A month or so ago i read an interview with one of the devs slating the PS2 because it cant do jack and is way past its sell by date, and that the only reason the xbox can do this is because it saves a shit load of stuff to the hard drive and streams it.
So either hes full of shit, or the ps2 is gonna have long loading times and reduced effects (Obviously anyways, but im talking LONG ones here)

What was the name of that fps at E3 this year with the long battle line of soldiers fighting alien/monsters in a forrest and a city? It has like a big walker monster with a big eye.

That looks pretty boring. All I see is the guy firing machineguns into some houses, with the occasional grenade being thrown. What the fuck?
'Sides that, it's made by EA. INGREDIENTS FOR FAILURE

The world is your toy. You can kill people by shooting them, or blow up that car next to then, or destroy the building they are in. Etc etc. Its like Red Faction, but done right.
As for the EA part, its the same as Half Life 2. Its only released by EA, not made by them.

From that page:
Highlighted below is the very first trailer (slated to debut for other media outlets sometime next week) -- but you guys get it first, and we sincerely hope you enjoy it (and yes, this is taken from the PS2 version).
In the corresponding Xbox piece, they left out that bolded part, so it looks to me for once at least that they're using the PS2 media for an Xbox piece.
I also read that the Burnout team had stated in an OPM issue that the PS2 version of Black will actually look a bit better than the Xbox version. If anything, I think it's the PS2's EE that can handle all that physics and not the P3 in the Xbox. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah that sounds like a load of BS to me. Streaming off the HDD may be quicker, but there's no reason why you can't stream off the DVD/CD itself (this technique has been used since the PS1 days). Take the Nordschleife track in GT4 for example, that track is so long that there's no way it can fit into the PS2 memory all at once, so what PD did is to stream it off the DVD (and yes, it works perfectly fine).

I think you're probably referring to I-8, which will be a PS3 game. It's being made by Insomniac, the same folks who make the Ratchet & Clank series.

What. Are you dumb? Carmack has specifically said that he'd rather donate power to more important things in his games than waste it all on little gimmicks like super advanced physics.

Which he also said still isn't really that viable.

Ahhh nice. The next age of fps games will be the 'OMG IN YOUR FACE SENSORY OVERLOAD!!!' such as seen here and in fear. I quite like it. Much better than just static ghost towns seen in most if not all of the previous titles.
