Getting a new mouse

I just bought an MX518 and thought it would be great. However, it's got a stupid feature that I guess some gamers like, which is the instant sensitivity change buttons instead of the scroll buttons like the MX500/510. You cant re-program them either, since the sensitivity change is hardware based. Therefore, you cannot use the buttons for weapons in-game, and end up losing functionality.

So I'm going to return the damn thing and splurge on an MX1000. For those who have one, what's the news on this thing from your experience? Does it live up to the hype (lasers...woooo!!)?

You can reprogram them. Mine is used for Enter and F5. Check your drivers again.

Well, Setpoint doesnt work on OS X, and I'm not sure USB Overdrive supports it in a similar way.

I'm talking about the buttons with "+" and "-" on them that apparently only switch the mouse speed in hardware.
