I use a 5 gallon water cooler jug. No idea how much is in it, but I think it's a fair bit. I try to just ignore it for the most part so I won't be tempted to rob it.
The problem is, if I ever fill it up I don't think I'll be able to lift it.

I also have an empty tank shell in the kitchen that i throw all my loose change in, thats nearly full.

We put all these small coins in a jar and give that to charity. When they come knocking on your door for money, we give 'em a handful of coins and brush 'em off.

If you don't spend it, how is it not saving money?

It's purely pyschological. Why put all your change in a jar, only to have to draw out more money to buy lunch the next day?
If I use that change for my next day's lunch instead of putting it in a jar, the money I didn't have to take out is still in my bank account.
Where teh fuck do u eat?
I want mylunch for 12p too!!!!

Find me a place where everything is exactly £2, £4 whatever and not £4.05 or £1.99
With no pennies you're only breaking into another quid and getting more change
But you would have to have 99 pennies

End of the day its saving your pennies
My mate chucks them at things...i put them in a jar
Just gives you an odd £40 quid or so 2 play with

Like DC said, it all adds up. You keep those 5ps to put towards your sandwich and it's no different from chucking it in a pot and digging it out 3 weeks later.
The only real difference is you're giving yourself the accutely boring task of counting up a mountain of shrapnel at the end of the month/week/year/whatever.
neg, go to asdas and you throw it in there big money counting machine where it sorts out all your shit then gives you a receipt to go to the checkout where you get your money back
and, yea, it is saving me money because my change pot wouldve been all the money i lost in town pissed up, given to a tramp, left with the till lady or just thrown about
cant STAND having loose change in pockets

You're arguing my point that money pots are for people who don't manage their money properly.
Stopping yourself wasting it and actually consciously saving money are entirely different points.
well you saved it from being wasted?

MEMPHIS. ITS A PENNY POT. ITS A POT YOU PUT PENNIES IN. IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CANT EVEN BUY PENNY SWEETS BECAUSE THEY COST TOO MUCH, PENNIES ARE UNUSED AND MOSTLY THROWN AT SMALL ANIMALS LIKE PIGEONS AND COWS.
ITS NOT A WASTE OF MONIES.

and its not only that, its 10x nicer having 90 and buying something better than having a few coins and buying a few cans

see above; its "found money"

(im not an avid practitioner of this ritual btw, just playing devils advocate)
its like finding a tenner in a pair of trousers which you didnt know you had. you didnt save it, you techincally didnt gain any money, but its money you can spend without really losing anything since you didnt know you had it anyways
