Quake 3 on xbox. Looks great. Only possible due to the source code being released (Like Quake/Quake2)

<s>excellent! is it on xbins yet?</s>
either you linked the wrong topic, or it hasn't been done yet. I read that topic a few days ago and it wasn't released. Sure hasn't been released in that topic yet. :icon33:

WOW!
I actually retracted my comment. At first I thought he meant that you can't play on XBC because of OpenGL but then I realised he might have meant that the Xbox doesn't support OpenGL (which could be why the doom3 port was done by another company).

While the idea is cool and most certainly worth pursueing, porting Q3 to XBox is illegal. The engine itself is no problem, but Quake 3 assets isn't.

Oh shut up you fucking faggot. Take a risk already.
Nobody releases jack shit on the internet for this, just the recompiled binaries. The user must own Quake 3 to begin with in order to do this.

You wouldn't need to port the assets. People can just take that off their PC Q3 games.

Finally a good FPS on the X-Box [/sarcy]
Seriously, what would the chances of a XB > PC link up for multiplayer be you think?

if it's a port then the networking code should remain unchanged. Depends what patch version the port is. Would probably be 1.32

no shit! Although most xbox porters are quite moral in that almost all ports don't include the original game WADs/PAKs/PK3s (a lot of assholes do grab the port+the WADs and repackage though)
Compiling code into .xbe for the xbox is also illegal, by the way. People who are active in the coding scene are holding onto illegal compilers, and compiling code with it (illegal) daily.

I've been getting back into Quake2 on the xbox, because I can, and keyboard+mouse are totally the way to go. Becuase Quake2X is basically a straight port, there's none of this auto-aim or targetting business you have in console fps games, which makes it a little more difficult (but still playable)
