Cake - Pretty Pink Ribbons

An outstanding rhyme about how pretty girls live the great life all because of their aesthetics. Done in such a beautifully slow, poetic sarcastic verse. :icon14: A recommended song. From the Album Comfort Eagle.

Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd end up just like me
Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd float down to the sea

Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd say just what you pleased
Without the sticky little kitten
You're ticket could never be free

Without your tight little denim
Your virtues would all go unknown
Without the room that you live in
Your cancer would eat through the bone

Your muscles would bulge underground
Your demons would all be around
Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd end up just like me

Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd end up just like me
Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd burn all these dying leaves

Without the pretty pink ribbon
You would lift this steaming herd
You would kill all the sick ones
You would bury them deep in the earth

Without the tight little denum
Your virtues would all go unknown
Without the room that you live in
Your cancer would eat through the bone

Your muscles would bulge underground
Your demons would all be around
Without the pretty pink ribbon
You'd end up just like me

Between brawls.

I often use the time between brawls for reflection and personal enrichment. Thinking about pretty girls and how they wouldn't date a canadian loser is a great focus.

It's hard though, sometimes my inter-brawl interval is so short that I have to drain the blood from my opponent in 4 seconds as opposed to the usual 5, just to give myself a breather.

It is true that most people are waaay overly narcisistic or however you spell it. People do put value on what they wear for some reason. They feel like they have to spike their hair, or grow it out, or well you know, any kind of style or whatever.

I've actually been thinking about this for a long time, but also wondering if I should care at all. :)

I quite enjoy this song, by Nothingface, Machination:
Let’s start a new nightmare
A brand new truth
A patsy is useful
A window with a view

Someone is listening
Why can’t they just leave me alone
And no one believes me
A gun for a conspiracy

Now don’t disappoint me
And do what you’re told
Be patient
We’ll be calling you

That’s what he says to me
The voice in my mind
Controlled by a subconscious shadow
Paranoid freewill confined

Read catcher in the rye
One hundred and ten fucking times
Brain washed and programmed
Obsession defined

Now don’t disappoint me
And do what you are told
Be patient
We’ll be calling you

No one will believe you
So say what you will
Be patient
We’ll be calling you

You’re our little device
A mindless satellite
We have the place
And we’ve set the date

They decide when it ends
They don’t let me do it myself
They got a use for me
A gun for a conspiracy

I’m remote controlled
I’m robotized for the dark government

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

First of May

I woke up this morning
I had a scone and a large house blend
And then a little conversation with my squirrel and chipmunk friends
I said I’m sick and tired of winter
And I wish that it was spring
And then a little fellow named Robin Redbreast
Began to sing

And he sang
Ooh ooh child, what’d you think the cold winter’s gonna last forever?
Ooh ooh child, now’s the time for all the people to get together
Outside

Cause it’s the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
So bring your favorite lady
Or at least your favorite lay
The water’s not cold baby dip in your big toe
Maybe I’ll see you in flagrante delicto
Grass below you, sky above
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside

I thanked him for the information
I cried a little when he flew away
I watched an episode of The People’s Court
And I tried to plan my day
I called up my old lady
She wasn’t home so I called my girl
I asked her if she’d like to join me as I
Entertain the world

And I said
Ooh ooh child, I’ll bring a blanket and I promise I will brush the ants off
Ooh ooh child, you’re gonna like it when we’re taking each other’s pants off
Outside

Cause it’s the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
So bring your favorite lady
Or at least your favorite lay
The water’s not cold baby dip in your big toe
Maybe I’ll see you in flagrante delicto
Grass below you, sky above
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside

So we went to the park together
We were walking in the midday sun
We met all kinds of people and we
We fucked everyone
We fucked a lady who sells ice cream
We fucked a man with a tan Shar Pei
Everyone who needed fucking well they
They got fucked today

So come on
Ooh ooh child, open your mind and your heart, feel the spirit moving through you
Ooh ooh child, you’ll feel the warmth of the love when I stick it to you
Outside

Cause it’s the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
So bring your favorite lady
Or at least your favorite lay
The water’s not cold baby dip in your big toe
Maybe I’ll see you in flagrante delicto
Grass below you, sky above
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside

Dream Theater - The Great Debate

It's about stem cell research. The lyrics here contain spoken quotes in the song taken from interviews from television and the radio etcetera
"A gallop snapshot poll taken immediately after President Bush's speach on
funding embrionic stem cell research last night shows that half of Americans
approve of his decision, 25% do not, and still another 25% are not sure what
to think."

"Most people don't even know what stem cells are."

"Who is going to scream the loudest? Will it be the right-to-lifers or will
it be the scientists? And now what is going to happen is there will be a
tremendous amount of lobbying in Washington, D.C.: scientists,
entertainers, people who want to see this research - will be coming forth."

"I am concerned about it. Christopher Reeves is concerned about it.
Everyone is concerned about it. The big question is do the ends justify
the means? When we talk about research, yes, we can cure a lot of things...
specutively. But, where is the proof?"

"These developing human beings that you are talking about, these embryos,
were produced in an artificial, scientific environment. In vitro
fertilization is not God's will."

"That doesn't make them any less human, though, after that happens."

"We are on a road where we really don't know where we are going as far as
what's next. We are talking about harvesting embyos. We are talking about
this, we are talking about that, but what is the cost?"

"How could we possibly abandon the research?"

"That is right. That is the old question? If you think the research is good
then you may not have a problem with it. It is only if you think the
research is questionable that you get defensive about it. (You do have time
to research these embryos later if we choose to do so. While people are
suffering, we are not truly certain that this will provide a cure.)"

"And there was a great outrage in the conservative churches... You cannot
use developing humans... At that point in time they turn into humans."

"I feel that abondoning this research could be a mistake. Researching this
may allow us to save other lives or at least to improve the quality of
lives."

"We do not have the answers, yet. We need to put the money where we will get
those answers in the future. Listen, we are out of time."

What if someone said
Promise lies ahead
Hopes are high in certain scientific circles
Life won't have to end
You could walk again

What if someone said
Problems lie ahead
They've uncovered something highly controversial
The right to life is strong
Can't you see it's wrong

Human kind has reached a turning point
Poised for conflict at ground zero
Ready for a war
Do we look to our unearthly guide
Or to white coat heroes
Searching for a cure

Turn to the light
Don't be frightened of the shadows it creates
Turn to the light
Turning away would be a terrible mistake

Anarchistic moral vision
Industries of death
Facing violent opposition
Unmolested breathe

Ethic inquisitions breed
Antagonistic views
Right wing sound bite premonitions
In a labyrinth of rules

Are you justified
Are you justified
Are you justified
Justified in taking
Life to save life
Life to save life
Taking life to save life

This embryonic clay
Wrapped in fierce debate
Would be thrown away
Or otherwise discarded

Some of us believe
It may hold the key
To treatment of disease
And secrets highly guarded

Are you justified
Are you justified
Are you justified
Justified in taking
Life to save life
Life to save life
Life to save life

Human kind has reached a turning point
Poised for conflict at ground zero
Ready for a war
Do we look to our unearthly guide
Or to white coat heroes

Turn to the light
Don't be frightened of the shadows it creates
Turn to the light
Turning away would be a terrible mistake

We're reaching
But have we gone too far

Harvesting existence
Only to destroy
Carelessly together
We are sliding

Someone else's future
Four days frozen still
Someone else's fate
We are deciding

Miracle potential
Sanctity of life
Faced against each other
We're divided

Should we push the boundaries
Or should we condemn
Moral guilt and science
Have collided

Turn to the light
We defy our own mortality these days
Turn to the light
Pay attention to the questions we have raised

"One of the big questions that still remains for me, though, is that all of
these embryos that are sent or will be discarded - is this worse than just
throwing those away?"

"You do not know that all of these will be discarded. All of a suddent you
say which ones will be discarded. And all of sudden you have people being
solicited for parts of their anatomy. Then they harvest parts of people's
bodies. That is how it starts."

"People are not soliciting; there are fertility clinics that have extra
embryos."

"The research is a scientific advancement. I know we are going down a road
that we may not know where we end, but that is exactly what science is all
about. I am very sorry, but I do feel sympathy for those whose spines have
been severed... There is a possibility that we might cure them. I am
concerned about a cure for juvenile diabities and if these types of
scientific advancement can cure these diseases, then quite candidly I think
there ought to be at least what President Bush has proposed: some limited
research."

"Stem cells come from developing human beings and they should not be
expiremented on that doesn't make sense or that is unethical, but at the
same time there is great promise."

"I have a 28-year old son who is parapallegic. And if there is a small
chance that my son can be able to have feeling and be able to walk then I am
all for it."

"Human beings have been evolving for 10's of thousands of years and we are
just injecting cells from embryos into people's brains. How do we come to
do something like that?"

Dream Theater - In the name of God

I think it's clear what this song is about
How can this be?
Why is he the chosen one?

Saint gone astray
With a scepter and a gun

Learn to believe
In the mighty and the strong

Come bleed the beast
Follow me it won't be long

Listen when the prophet
Speaks to you
Killing in the name of God

Passion
Twisting faith into violence
In the name of God

Straight is the path
Leading to your salvation
Slaying the weak
Ethnic elimination

Any day we'll all be
Swept away
You'll be saved
As long as you obey

Lies
Tools of the devil inside
Written in Holy disguise
Meant to deceive and divide
Us all

Listen when the prophet
Speaks to you
Killing in the name of God

Passion
Twisting faith into violence
In the name of God

Blurring the lines
Between virtue and sin
They can't tell
Where God ends
And mankind begins

They know no other
Life but this
From the cradle
They are claimed

Listen when the prophet
Speaks to you
Killing in the name of God

Passion
Twisting faith into violence
In the name of God

Hundreds of believers
Lured into a doomsday cult
All would perish
In the name of God

Self-proclaimed messiah
Led his servants
To their death
Eighty murdered
In the name of God

Forty sons and daughters
Un-consenting plural wives
Perversions
In the name of God

Underground religion
Turning toward
The mainstream light
Blind devotion
In the name of God

Justifying violence
Citing from the Holy Book
Teaching hatred
In the name of God

Listen when the prophet
Speaks to you
Killing in the name of God

Passion
Twisting faith into violence
In the name of God

Religious beliefs
Fanatic obsession
Does following faith
Lead us to violence?

Unyielding crusade
Divine revelation
Does following faith
Lead us to violence?

Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First
indirectly about the US's preemptive strike against Middle Eastern countries, and how 'he' doesnt want to be part of 'the empire';
We strike first
And we're unrehearsed
Here we go again
To stage the greatest show on heaven and earth
Come on, get your moneys worth

Don't wanna live
Don't wanna give
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E
Don't wanna live
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E

We're coming on fast
And we're built to last
We stumbled once in 'Nam
Now we're glad to finally say
Those days have passed
Tell me how long can it last?

Don't wanna live
Don't wanna give
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E
Don't wanna live
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E

We just started out
You don't need to be afraid
Yeah you deserve two minutes hate

Well, we spit and we cursed
And our bleeding hearts burst
But even ten million souls
Marching in February couldn't stop the worst
Couldn't reverse

Don't wanna live
Don't wanna give
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E
Don't wanna live
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E

This is from Bob Marley, and it's about jamming.

He wants to jam you know, and praise the lord at the same time - which in his mind is one and the same thing, for music = god and god = music and music should be used to praise Jah to unite the people in the same way religion does. He also professes his determination to do all these things he sings about, (can be seen from the second verse) and proclaims his love for all people (in verse 2 and 3).

Respect.
We're jamming
I wanna jam it with you,
We're jamming, jamming
And I hope you like jamming too

Ain't no rules, ain't no vow, we can do it anyhow
I and I will see you through,
'Cos every day we pay the price with a little sacrifice
Jamming till the jam is through.

We're jamming
To think that jamming was a thing of the past,
We're jamming, jamming
And I hope this jam is gonna last

No bullet can stop us now, we neither beg nor will we bow
Neither can be bought or sold.
We all defend the right, JAH JAH children must unite
Your life is worth much more than gold.

We're jamming, jamming
We're jamming in the name of the Lord
We're jamming, jamming
We're jamming right straight from JAH

Holy mount Zion
Holy mount Zion
JAH sitteth in Mount Zion
And rules all Creation

Yeah, we're jamming, jamming
I wanna jam it with you
We're jamming, jamming
I'm jammed, I hope you're jamming too

Jam's about my pride and truth I cannot hide
Too Keep you satisfied.
True love that now exist is the love I can't resist
So jam by my side.

We are going,
heaven knows where we are going,
we know we will

we will get there,
heaven knows when we will get there
we know we will

it will be hard we know,
and the road will be muddy and rough,
but we'll get there, heaven knows how we will get there,
we know we will

woyaya
woyaye
woyaya
Osibisa. Going, apparently.

K's Choice
Not An Addict

Breathe it in and breathe it out
And pass it on, it's almost out
We're so creative, so much more
We're high above but on the floor

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive
If you don't have it you're on the other side

The deeper you stick it in your vein
The deeper the thoughts, there's no more pain
I'm in heaven, I'm a god
I'm everywhere, I feel so hot

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive
If you don't have it you're on the other side
I'm not an addict (maybe that's a lie)

It's over now, I'm cold, alone
I'm just a person on my own
Nothing means a thing to me
(Nothing means a thing to me)

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive
If you don't have it you're on the other side
I'm not an addict (maybe that's a lie)

Free me, leave me
Watch me as I'm going down
Free me, see me
Look at me, I'm falling and I'm falling.

It is not a habit, it is cool I feel alive I feel...
It is not a habit, it is cool I feel alive

It's not a habit, it's cool, I feel alive
If you don't have it you're on the other side
I'm not an addict (maybe that's a lie)
I'm not an addict...

I think it's about addiction or something.

FLOGGING MOLLY - Irish Drinking Song Lyrics

well i stumbled and i am all drunk and full of smoke
my wife said i have had enough, im sick, thats it, get out!
so i stumbled down to kellys pub across the edge of town
and i told the boys me story and we had another round

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!

and mary mcgregor, she was a pretty whore
she'd always greet you with a smile and never lock her door
but on the day she died, all the men in town did weep
for mary mcgregor finally got some sleep

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!

well i once loved a girl, a child im told
i gave her my heart and she gave my a cold
so now i sit standing here out in the pouring rain
ill stumble back to kellys pub and cry away me pain

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and
drink and fight!
I have no idea what this one's about.

Goldie Lookin Chain - Your Mothers Got a Penis wrote: That's right, you knows what I'm saying
Your mother's offered me the goods, I'm not paying.
It started as a laugh, as a bit of a joke
Something funny to say when I was having a smoke.
I first heard off this bloke, this fucking rumour going round
Your mother's reputation it's not sound
She's saving up the pennies hoping they'd turn into pounds
To have an operation to swap her gender around.

It's a shock to me and it's a shock to you
Your mother's got a beard, sandals and a penis too
It don't look right see, when she's walking down the street
To see her ball bag jiggin' to the beat of her feet

I said
Your mother's got a penis
Your mother's got a penis
Your mother's got a penis
That's right
Your mother's got a penis

In internet rooms and computer mainframes
There's loads of emails but your mother's blue veins.
Not the ones in her legs or the backs of her arms
But the ones in her member hidden in her gown.
She walks around proud, with a short dress on
Which sometimes exposes the tip of her dong.
Often it's dripping, sometimes it's dry
No matter when I see her there's a tear in my eye.
I thought I had to tell you, had to put it in a letter
But I thought fuck that I'd write a song in much better.
The only way to do it, to really let you know
I could prove it because I gave it a blow.
It was purely accidently because she got me really drunk
And she made me kiss her elephant trunk.
You know why? That's right
Your mother got a penis.

Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)
Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)
Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis, c'mon)
That's right
Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)

Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)
Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)
Your mother's got a penis (Let's Rock !)
That's right
Your mother's got a penis

When she walks down the street, then she walks like John Wayne
I just seen her pissing standing up again.
Don't make no sense when you see her here and there
She got a cock and balls and real pubic hair.
And a single eye that sometimes weeps
If she lying on the bed then she rubs it on the sheets
Or up against the door or the back of your neck
If your mother's around then you make a double check.
I hate to tell you with all due respect
Take your mother to the doctors because her front bum's wrecked.

You know why?
Your mother's got a penis

Your mother's got a penis (Your mother's got a penis)
Your mother's got a penis
Your mother's got a penis
That's right
Your mother's got a penis (Yes)

Your mother's got a penis
Your mother's got a penis
Your mother's got a penis
That's right
Your mother's got a penis

Aldri glemme
Aldri glemme
Aldri glemme

Behind the barbed-wired fences
the sun’s going down
You’re eating your ration
sitting on the ground
You’ve stopped counting the days
till you’ll get away
as the smoke from the campfire
put tears in your eyes
I know that you know
there will come a time
when the wheels of fortune
will spin the other way around
You shall not have lost
your childhood in vain
for the sake of the fanatical
greedy, insaine

Det e ingen som vil dæ te livs no i natt
Du e ei stjerne, en konge
Du eie en skatt
Du e liten, men stor

Du e liten, men stor
Du e størst på vår jord
Rosalita, Natasja, Ailo og Hans
Rosalita, Natasja, Ailo og Hans
Du e ei stjerne, en konge
Du eie en skatt
Vi ska passe på dæ i natt.
