how can you glean any promise from that trailer:

let's see:

hot chick
perfect efficient assassin theme
cool effects
fight scene based
standard plot

could be good but if they had to rely on only these devices to sell the movie in the trailer, then the movie probably only has these features to offer.

Looking forward to it. Haven't seen the original series much, only a few episodes now and then.

wait - how can you tell it's going to be a great action flick?

It's an action flick for sure that has attractive people and expensive effects.

It's sad how people's standards for "great" have become so perverse over the years.

great action movies include "Predator", "Kill Bill", "The Matrix", etc.

Does "great" just mean it has eye candy?

Loved watching Aeon Flux on Liquid TV.

But after watching that trailer, I'm not really enthused.

One of the cartoon strengths was the general weirdness:
For instance, twisted, leptosomatic characters with strange, jerky body movements.

Seeing that they already use CGI abundantly, this may be the first time where I would prefer the entire movie being CGI, characters included.

Looks a bit like actors pretending to be Autobots right now.

Hot though Charlize Theron may be, but in a less grotesque, more realistic setting.

Its supposed to be mindless sci-fi entertainment with a dose of T&A thrown in, nothing more and nothing less. I find it bizarre how many people can't just enjoy action or sci-fi flicks for what they are.

the fact that you're justifying garbage means that hollywood has indeed triumphed.

people have forgotten that there are such things as GOOD action or GOOD sci fi flicks.

I enjoy GOOD action movies.

i do not enjoy SHIT action movies.

Why should i enjoy SHIT for what it is - namely SHIT?

Maybe you're being a little too analytical Julios. These shows are designed for you to sit down, turn your brain off, and enjoy. No different than Predator, Rambo, etc were. Hollywood "triumphs" because people don't mind dropping $12 at the theatre to be entertained for a couple of hours. If you want something to analyze then dramatic or epic movies at probably more geared to your tastes.

Personally, I only go to the theatre for special effects-based movies. Anything else is more worth watching at home IMO.

Edit: I don't think this attitude is "justifying" anything. It's simply enjoying a movie for what it was meant to be and not bringing a lot of personal expectations along to the theatre.

don't you DARE mention the name "Predator" in this discussion. Predator is a quality action flick.

Predator had some excellent special effects, but the movie itself was brilliant. You watched that movie and got sucked into the world, and actually experienced the fear and horror and action.

Ok, so you admit that it's meant to be shit, and that it is shit, and that expecting anything more than shit is misguided.

I agree with you here.

I just think you have poor taste, enjoying shit.

Predator was just another action flick in my opinion. It wasn't a work of art , it was just something entertaining and nothing more.

I didn't say this movie would be shit. Thats your opinion Julios and I happen to disagree.

well i haven't seen the movie so i can't comment too much on it.

It just seems that you're justifying movies that are nothing more than bad acting, terrible script writing, and EXPENSIVE AND IMPRESSIVE sfx.

Surely there's more to entertainment than mere sfx...

please for the love of good taste agree with this.

So list some good action flicks (ones which aren't merely just another action flick)

Many people (as evidenced by box office sales) don't mind watching a movie merely to be entertained by cheesy lines and good special effects. If that isn't something you enjoy then don't watch it, pretty simple.
