Entry level, what would digital slr users recommend, I've had the Canon EOS 350D recommended. Suggestions or thoughts on this one?

I've around 2k to spend (Aust Dollars)

I would go for the Nikon entry DSLRs. In fact, I might buy the D50 any time soon. The Nikon bodies have a better build, better quality. Great quality lenses. The CMOS/CCD sensor might be 2 MP lower than the 350D, but you hardly notice the 15% image size difference (consumers, however, are sensitive to this fact).

Nikon D50 or D70s

I am very happy with my Kodak DX6490

Currently have a Nikon F-401s, with 35-70mm lens which would swap across I suppose. Also, with the Nikon, there is this

well, it's an obvious choice for nikon then if you already own a Nikon SLR. Keep the 1.5 magnification factor in mind if you use the 35-70 mm lens. The CCD is 1.5x smaller so the effective distance is 42-105mm.
