Anyone here use this? After it indexes your drives you can search them in a google-web interface.

We stopped the use of it here in my company because it was a major resource hog on SOME computers, not all of them.

Yeah I know, I haven't bothered to try it until now though. I think it's pretty good so far. It indexed about 30% of my drives. Searches are nice. I think it can be a nice thing to have around when you're searching for something obscure, but I wouldn't have it running all the time (much like everyone would disable the WinXP indexing service?). I think this is a better alternative, with more features, and you don't have to have it running when you don't need or want to.

I've heard some people say it heavily thrashes the drives when it's running, but I haven't noticed it at all yet. It dosen't seem to slow down any other apps (well besides games maybe). I just don't like how it wraps around desktop icons and windows.

also, it's now able to search networked drives unlike the previous version(s).

I know where I download/place everything so I never need to search unless it's some system file or dll I need to replace.

Bumping to highlight new google-microsoft rivalry going down, and to highlight MSN's advantage: this was taken during the connection of a webcam conversation on MSN Messenger

Google desktop is nice.
Once it has indexed your files, searching is as quick as you can enter the name.
