If you can run doom3 well then you can run quake4 well. I think at least a 6800.

Tim W. has stated that any computer that can run Doom 3, will runn Quake 4.

Although Doom3 SP was playable for me, I suspect 30-40 fps won't be enough to satisfy my Quake needs. I guess I'll be paying up for a pair of 6800's (for me and my gf)

don't be daft, d3 ran fine for me on my old 5600, and it runs even more fine on my current 6600. you won't need a 6800 to play Q4

It will run better in most cases. Outdoor has been optimized to only use a single light source in most cases, which while equaling to ugly texture normals, it does mean very fast frame rates.

I run on a Geforce 4 MX440, an Athlon 2200+, and 512 mb of ram.
I get 40fps in doom 3 at 1024x768 in medium quality.
