trying to install q3 for oldtimes sake. i got myself a never used before copy of Q3Gold and it wont install.
the setup will give me the usual "installshield is preparing your computer blabla" dialogue and stops at 99%. stays there for a few minutes and then just quits

sounds like you've got a problem. it'll probably work if you fix it

I've had that before. MY drive couldnt read the CD for some strange reason. I gave up and torrented the stoopid thing

Indeed. Try copying the CD contents to a temp directory and running the setup from there.

(for some reason it required 15 launches of setup and over 15 minutes of patience before it started itself up)

So.. Just copy the Pak0 from the cd and run the newest patch.. O_o

Bloody hell, basic problem. Just like Quake 2, copy the contens from the CD yourself

i'd like it in my registry
also, nowadays games tend not to run updates when its not properly installed.. no idea if q3ta was one of those

but it already fixed itself so :lub:
