k so a galaxy is a group of solar systems. So what about galaxies, do they belong to a bigger group of interstelar entity/ies?

A galaxy is a group of stars, not necessarily solar systems.
There are clusters of galaxies - for example the Milky way belongs to a cluster called teh local group.
The nearest cluster of galaxies to our cluster is the Virgo cluster.
There are also superclusters...

cluster of galaxy clusters?
now do these "steps" (read: stars, galaxies, clusters, supercluster) etc." resemble one another on some basic level of formation ?

things being held 'together' by gravity
in the most basic sense

there may indeed be something fractal in here, but there are probably also higher level features of organization that aren't found in lower levels.
I think at the really high levels, you tend to get sheets of matter, whereas in the lower levels, they're more globular or something. (not sure about this though)

In addition to the Virgo cluster we are part of the Virgo supercluster.
Here's a vague map of the Virgo Supercluster and it's "parts".
Here's a pict taken from this
site which lays out the "local group" of superclusters:
It's a big neighborhood...and God only loves Amercia.

Here's
more info on the dynamics of a cluster.
And here's a
cool read about it as well.

pfft. Go learn about fractals and you'll see why my reply
is smart!

Being part of a supercluster's okay, if that's all you can afford.
