Trying to add osp...

welldone reef, this time i am online!

Downloaded Game runnes which is a proggy that allows ya to easily host a dedicated server and being able to join it from the same pc aswell... without fucking up the server or draining yer cpu powers/internet connection.

BUT i dont know how to add OSP...could someone download gamerunner and see how it is done?

make a shortcut to q3.exe and put this in target:

"C:\Quake III Arena\Quake3.exe" +set fs_game osp +set dedicated 2

I think thats what the command is.

"server is for low pings only"

someone either make me a server cfg or better... download http://www.gamerunner.com q3 runner and see how you add OSP.. i suck at this shit...AND im off to a party.

get a hold of PieceMaker .. he may have the old Ax's Q3W server OSP2.cfg

i'm off to work for a few weeks and can't help ya getting your server running.

p.s. i made that cfg using the ospconfig generator included with the downloaded serverside osp files.

this is a cfg from the us gamecloud/speakeasy servers.

edit accordingly. i noticed your game says baseq3 instead of osp. im gonna connect in a few so cant tell for sure but make sure osp is installed correctly.

also, if you have 1mbit up, you can easily fit 8 slots on there with a maxrate of 25000.

look over that cfg, remove/change the passes and edit the motd to your liking. also try port 27970.

yeah thats not osp. do what doomer said to make a shortcut and add +exec osp.cfg +set net_port 27970. of course, edit the target to your install path.

and read the docs in your osp directory. it has all the info you'll need.

Looks like prince1000 has you set. Follow DooMer's advice as well and you should be all setup.

I just connected to your server and it's stil baseq3

I only get timeout on it.

Boomtown also has some OSP servers. There are a few in Norway also, but I doubt you'll get good ping there unless you're from Sweden, Denmark or Norway.

Im not to good with server setup's..
I have added +set fs_game osp +set dedicated 2 in target line and when i start q3a the console comes up but i cant connect to my server... i get "server is unresponsive"

could i get a "8 year old kid who knows nothing" explanation on how to setup my server as an osp server instead? :icon27:

And someone download that game runner..they have an extra feature that allows ya to add exec. cfg's ... that would be the easiest way for me and you wouldent have to explain how to create path's,cfg's,batch files etc etc... if someone just figured out how to add osp directly to http://www.gamerunner.com proggy.

when the console jumps up, open another instance of q3 (without those commands in the target line) and type connect 127.0.0.1. see if it works

you can also tone down the hunkmegs on the dedicated instance if you'd like

You could try one of the default configs in the OSP folder. There are all kinds of game modes ready set up. Just edit them to your liking. Or use the OSP Config Generator (OSP Config Generator.exe) which lets you make batch files automatically. It's really great to use and to make sure you have everything set the way you want it without wondering if you have all the stuff in the configs written the correct way etc..

The latest point release, and the latest version of OSP. And the maps of course, though appart from ZTN, I doubt anyone will play anything non-standard on the server.

BTW< anybody with net setting knowledge tell me whats average/good settings for 4meg broadband? (4meg down/384kbps up)
